Mallory went home from work with a headache and feeling..just sort of yuck on Wednesday, June 15. She was later seen at a local Urgent Care and diagnosed with Viral Pneumonia. They suggested admitting her at that time (Mal's husband Davis Byrd is currently doing an internship in South Carolina) since she was home alone, but she wanted to go home to Grenada where she knew her Momma could take care of her.
By the weekend, Mallory was having a hard time breathing and Friday night, June 17th she was admitted to Grenada's hospital. They also diagnosed with Viral Pneumonia, but it was thought she was having a severe allergic reaction to current meds. By Sunday, Mallory was released from Genada, no meds whatsoever, rest and fluids . Mallory was resting and recovering at her parents.
On Tuesday, June 21 (I believe that's the date) she was having a hard time breathing, blood pressure was low and her mother, Joyce Rush, put her in the car and got her to Oxford ER. At that point, Mal's O2 was 81%, blood pressure low and the immediately put her on free flow oxygen. The chest X-ray and CT Scan showed Mal's lungs were COVERED at this point, not an area of healthy tissue. She was admitted to their ICU that day. They weren't certain it was Viral Pneumonia. Since then, Mallory has had a Bronchoscopy for biopsy and yesterday, Monday June 26, she had surgery to retrieve larger pieces of tissue for biopsy. Those results are slowly coming in..they have a better direction, nothing we can absolutely say at this time. It's still a..let's see sort of thing.
This morning around 6:30am they decided it was time to put Mallory on a ventilator. Later that morning they airlifted her to Baptist East in Memphis, she was there by noon.
They felt if anything further were to change, worsen, this would be the best location for her.
She is initiating her breaths..the ventillator is not completely breathing for her. She does wake up at times, she is still there!! Mallory is fighting this..and hard. So let's not loose hope for her.
Currently, Davis was able to come home and is with her. But, this means no work..no paycheck. Mallory is not working, no paycheck. Their families worlds have totally stopped. We are hoping this will raise funds to cover gas, hotel costs (Hampton is on the hospital campus)..Mal is in ICU so this would be needed at some point for showers and a nap, any bills that may come up..just life in general right now. Any help is absolutely appreciated at this time.
