The Drive:
Many children have lost their families due to war and poverty. Regardless of the extreme poverty that they face, these young children still partake in the holy month of Ramadan and fast from sun up to sun down. Our hope is to provide love, unity, and celebration this Eid to the young Somali children who often don't have families to celebrate with.
Your donation will help provide these children toys, gifts, clothes, and even a festive meal on the day of Eid in several areas in Somalia/Somaliland! Please do not shy away from donating because you believe that your amount will not make a difference.
Somali Faces adopts a zero-overhead policy as evident from our previous campaigns which means 100% of donations will go these orphans. Somali Faces will be covering their personal stories on our online platforms.
Who are we?:
Somali Faces is an award-winning UK-based not-for-profit organisation -- with offices in the Horn of Africa -- that uses storytelling to catalogue the stories of Somalis and turn the attention of a wide community into action through social media and social fundraising. The organisation aims to change commonly held stereotypes about Somali people, to work towards peacebuilding and to raise funds to directly support the Somali people. It started out as a storytelling platform co-founded by photographers, storytellers, and human rights advocates. It successfully managed a Drought Relief Campaign in 2017 that raised USD 124.011,91 and provided emergency food and water to 54,300 Somalis with an emphasis on the out-of-reach settlements in 12 regions. Somali Faces fundraised £30,610 following the October 2017 Mogadishu attack, to support the hospitals, ambulance services and the victims. Somali Faces places a special emphasis on raising awareness for social justice and has provided resettlement support for rape victims as well as empowering women in IDP camps by improving their livelihoods through creating income generating sources for their families.
