Makaylas road to recovery

1 year old Makayla got sick last Wednesday and was taken to the doctor multiple times before a correct diagnosis was provided. At her third emergency room visit on Tuesday the doctor decided to get an X-ray to help determine the diagnosis.
It turned out that Makayla had swallowed a button battery that had been lodged in her esophagus for 6 days. She was rushed in for emergency surgery to have the battery removed.
Due to the delayed diagnosis her esophagus has been burned and she has a long road to recovery. She will be getting a G tube inserted this week to start receiving her nutrients and will be having another surgery for the doctors to determine the extent of the damage and next course of action.
As if this situation isn't hard enough on the family Makayla's mom is still working through recovery from knee surgery due to post surgery complications and the family already has an excess of medical bills.
