Makai World Cup 2019

The success of last year's "Makai World Cup 2018" is credited to a grassroots movement with immeasurable volunteer efforts from the Vampire Savior community. There were key members from Ohio, New York, & the Pacific Northwest. The Mission Statement of our event was to run ALL GAMES on original arcade hardware, with Vampire Savior being the primary focus - a true VSAV Major. We hosted 10 other games and most importantly, 3 Vampire Savior events-- a double-elimination singles tournament, a 2v2 Team Tournament, and a 3v3 Random Team Exhibition featuring 21 of the country's best players!

We're looking to offer more this time:  On March 23rd-24th, we are hosting Makai World Cup 2019.  Our most ambitious goal with this event is encouraging foreign player attendance, specifically for Vampire Savior.

We are very pleased to say that we've already confirmed attendance from a VSAV player in Tokyo-- Zero-One! (Felicia)

Makai World Cup 2019 Teaser with Zero-One announcement

In planning this event,  we decided to launch a donation page as one way to reach our goals, deciding on the GoFundMe platform for the sake of ease.

The campaign for donations will run until March 1st, 2019.

In the interest of being completely transparent, here is our final statement:

Our funding for the event is almost entirely driven by one person. We would like to be able to accommodate the foreign players as much as possible, and provide for the volunteer staff graciously donating their equipment, time, and effort to make this event truly great.

ALL donations will go straight to accommodating foreign players and their travel needs, as well as the staff involved with the event.   Not a single person affiliated with Makai World Cup 2019 is looking at this as a profit opportunity.   We are doing this because we love the game, the community, and are grateful for the opportunity to host a true Vampire Savior major.

Thank you all for reading this, and thank you in advance if you decide to donate.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! You're really helping to make this event a success.

After our initial announcement of Zero-One, we released a teaser for our 2nd overseas player, @MABgallon! You can watch the teaser here:

On December 28th, we had a twitch stream with @VMP_KyleW and revealed our 3rd overseas player, @takahashigallon from West Japan!

We have another announcement to make at Frosty Faustings just before Vampire Savior top 8 runs, so stay tuned!

Since we already got close to the original $1500 goal, after some discussion we've decided to raise the cap to $2500. We will use any further donations over $1500 to provide additional/cool things for the event.

One of the ideas that we have is to get some additional candy cabs set up for casual play with different types of games, not necessarily fighting games. (i.e. puzzle, shmup, beat em up)

Thanks again to all the current donors.

Update 9/21:

After our announcement on our stream at 10pm EDT, in less than an hour of the GoFundMe page being made public, we were able to reach $1200!!! We're currently at $1319 and have very much almost hit our goal.

This is huge!! Six months before the event, we have already almost reached our goal. We are working on providing further incentives for the players at the event (one current idea is to cater food for all attendees) and putting together something special for the donors.

We can't thank everyone enough. You have our eternal gratitude, and you've only reinforced that the VSAV community is the best community.
