A close family member from Bosnia took her 7 year old son to the emergency room after he was experiencing severe stomach pains, only to have the doctor confirm a diagnosis of Burkitt's lymphoma. This type of cancer is recognized as the fastest growing human tumor and is associated with impaired immunity and is rapidly fatal if left untreated. Due to the lack of medical resources needed to treat him in Sarajevo, the family is looking into options to have him go elsewhere for chemotherapy and appropriate treatment.
