Magical Moments for Ben & Olivia

Ben and Olivia are two lovely children who were recently involved in a tragic car accident whilst on holiday in New Zealand, in which their mum Kerry was killed and their other mum Jules was seriously injured.

It was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime but whilst going out for dinner one evening with friends, a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction crossed over the central line and collided with Kerry and Jules’ car. Kerry was pronounced dead at the scene and Jules was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, neither Ben or Olivia were seriously harmed, but the memory of that awful event remains at the forefront of their minds.

Currently, Jules is recuperating in New Zealand and will need a substantial period of recovery before the family can return to England. Until then, Ben and Olivia will have to be schooled in New Zealand whilst Jules undergoes gruelling physiotherapy before the doctors can assess whether she is fit enough to take the children on their long journey home.

Jules’ recovery period is expected to be very lengthy and we, as friends of the family, want to help Ben (age 6) and Olivia (age 9) get through what will inevitably be some very tough times over the next few years, given how involved their mums were in all aspects of their lives.

With your help, we can create some magical moments that they can look forward to. Days out, holidays, all of these will provide light during the darker times. Over the next year, we will be organising a number of fundraising events to raise money for Ben and Olivia.

With your support, we can give Olivia and Ben experiences that will enrich their childhood and transform their lives for the better.

Thank you

It's been seven months since the terrible accident which changed our lives forever. I thought it would be a great time to update you all as to our progress.

We arrived back in the UK in mid January, the children returned to school and I continued with my recovery.
Life has been very difficult at times, the loss of Mummy Kerry has been huge for us all.
Ben and Olivia have been supported by their schools, friends and family and more recently by Winstons Wish.
I'm sure you will all understand that following such a trauma the children have chosen to stay close to home. I have also been physically restricted in terms of travel, however we are now starting to push their boundaries a little to travel further afield and with the help of Winstons Wish manage their fears associated with travelling.

This weekend we used the magical moments fund for the first time and I thought we'd share some of the magical moments with you all.
With the help of a good friend we went north to visit some of Mummy Kerry's family and stayed in a local holiday park for a few days.
Olivia and Ben really enjoyed the weekend, but most importantly they've travelled and stayed away from home for the first time.
We will slowly increase the distance and method of travel over the next year to ensure the children feel safe to take on new adventures and not allow the accident to restrict their futures.
Thanks to your kind donations hopefully the children will benefit from some amazing trips and experiences. Regards Jules
