Madelynn is my sweet, determined and fierce 19 year old recent high school graduate. She was diagnosed 2.5 years ago with AA3 mixed glioblastoma.
The placement and size left her no options for surgical removal, the doctors at Children's were afraid to even do a biopsy. They originally gave her a 8-10 month prognosis with radiation starting right away.
We have been through countless sticks and pokes, the loss of friends, family, and things in general; the heartache of bad test/lab results, feeding tubes, hair loss, and general disappointment at this giant curve-ball of our life.
This whole time she has taken everything in stride, never a day where she wasn't planning for what's next in her life, places she wants to travel, concerts she wants to attend. She is a fighter & determined to win!
She is on her fourth reoccurrence of tumor growth; Chemotherapy was deemed ineffective and was stopped but we did not give up hope and neither did her team of doctors. They sent away to see if Madelynn carries the HER2 gene to qualify her for a new clinical trial.
We recently got great news...Madelynn will be the FIRST person to start the Car T cell therapy for Seattle Children’s Brainchild Program.
Wednesday, July 18th Madelynn had a successful brain surgery and port placement which is the first step of the trial! She is currently in ICU recovering. This girl is strong and ready for the long road ahead.
Sadly, insurance will not cover many of her treatments... and the financial impact of long term treatments is all consuming.
We appreciate every share and every single penny. Your donations will help Mady with travel expenses to checkups, medications not covered by insurance, medical expenses, experiences, music, food, and the basics needed to continue on the fight each day.
