Maggie Mays Birthday Invite
Hi! My name is Jolie Abreu and I am the Director of Development for crowdFunnit .
Our latest crowdFunnit birthday party is for Maggie May. Let's let Maggie know she does have friends! You are cordially invited to celebrate Maggie's 16th birthday party with her.
Party: Saturday, February 25th at 12 PM – 2 PM in EST at Healing Strides Of Virginia 672 Naff Road Boones Mill, VA 24065 RSVP and/or wish Maggie a Happy Birthday here
We are looking to raise 275 towards basic party supplies and to contribute to the non-profit 501 (c) 3 Healing Strides of Virginia which is both hosting her birthday party, and has given Maggie so much therapy and fun over the years. Every dollar helps and any money over our goal can also go to help others in need of support. Every dollar helps and any money over our goal can also go to help others in need of support.
Maggie was born with two holes in her heart. Whereas one has closed, the other is filled with an enthusiasm for life that spills out into her daily activities. However, despite her close relationship with family and caretakers, Maggie, who turns 16 in February, has never had a real birthday party with friends. Too many immunity issues keep her indoors during the cold and flu season says her mom Robin Mays, and away from large crowds and comradery.
In addition to Down syndrome and heart issues, numerous other medical discoveries have emerged. It was revealed at birth that Maggie had hearing loss in both ears as well as thyroiditis, then came chronic insomnia, and at age four came the additional diagnosis of autism. Due to her compromised immune system she is home schooled.
When people learn about Maggie, they start apologizing that she has it so rough, says Robin. “Very few times do people come up to Maggie and engage her. Often people will just stand and stare at her. They know something is different, but they are not exactly sure what’s going on and they refrain from engaging with her.” As a result, Maggie spends much of her life as an observer, watching other people live theirs.
Please show love and support by RSVPing to attend Maggie's birthday party at Healing Strides Of Virginia 672 Naff Road Boones Mill, VA 24065

crowdFunnit is a project of the 501(c)3 nonprofit, Cherab Foundation, devoted to building friendships, while reducing bullying and alienation through community supported birthday parties for friendless children.
Children all over the world, including your neighborhood, go year after year without anyone showing up to their birthday parties because they are either alienated, bullied or both. Founded by members of the Cherab Foundation along with like-minded souls who simply care, crowdFunnit fosters acceptance and compassion for those children that need a little help making friends. Following on the heels of Camden Eubank’s successful “open-invite” birthday party in the summer of 2015, the pending 501(c)3 nonprofit for the crowdFunnit Foundation was created, serving as a proactive measure to help these celebrations come to life.
Having friends helps build confidence and self-esteem and you can help by making these special children the focus of a birthday celebration full of fun and friendship. crowdFunnit strives to provide a safe way for parents to invite the community and the world for that matter, via social media, along with local businesses to help create a birthday celebration of interest to their child.
Together we can help every child enjoy the simple pleasure all children deserve, a happy birthday with friends.
Do you know of another child (anywhere in the US) who's being bullied, alienated and/or has never had a birthday with friends? http://cherabfoundation.org/crowdfunnit/refer-a-child/

“When I asked Gabe what he wanted to do this year for his birthday his answer was “Nothing. No one will come everyone hates me” Many families are struggling in the same way when it comes to our kids being bullied and ignored or worrying about what others might think of them because they are different. I want parents to know that it’s ok to just bring your kids. If they have issues, if they’re struggling, if they don’t have very many friends, bring them out. We understand. There is a whole community of people who are in this same situation.” ~Stephanie Manus
Gabe Manus just wanted a birthday party, with friends. After several years when no one even RSVPed yes or no to his parties, he was ready to give up. Saturday, March 10th will change all that as the community comes together to celebrate him and all those individuals and families out there feeling the same alienation.
Some of the honored guests who are in the same situation as Gabe attending Gabe’s crowdFunnit birthday party are:
Peyton will be 9 this March. A super sweet child with ADHD he is bullied horribly at school, and the school says they are “working on it” to try to end it. In the meantime, Peyton is both bullied and alienated and would just love a friend to play with.
Matt, 12, is high functioning and has been through so much medically with 2 brain surgeries and a spinal surgery. He has epilepsy and also needs to wear leg braces. He would love to have a friend but nobody ever invites him over to come and play.
Parker, 13 is a sweet kid who suffers from seizures and ADHD and hasn’t been invited to a birthday party since 1st grade and is ignored by the other children at school.
James, 14, has ASD and has not been invited to a party or any social event since he started middle school in spite of numerous attempts to invite others. This has led to school anxiety and not just sadness but depression.
Let’s let Gabe and the other alienated children know they are worth getting to know! You are cordially invited to celebrate Gabe’s 7th birthday party with them.
