Tell Your Story (French in NOLA)

$2,125 of $6,000 goal

Laissez les bons temps rouler! Join the graduate students of the Department of French and Italian at Tulane University in celebrating the unique history of New Orleans. ADEEFF, with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the Department of French and Italian at Tulane University, is raising funds to support an event that will unite the local community in recognition of New Orleans' French heritage as we celebrate her Tricentennial. Our Digital Storytelling Contest is part of a larger initiative to promote French language in a city that is globally recognized for its vibrant, mosaic culture. This initiative will not be possible without the help of our community. Please consider making a donation to support our efforts to create a space in which to honor, share, and celebrate. Let's keep the good times rolling!

How will the money be spent?

All funds raised will contribute to the implementation of this event. They will cover marketing, a videographer, an ambulant crêpe station, costs for food and prizes for storytelling contest winners.

 Why is this cause important?

There is no other city quite like New Orleans. This is partially due to it's mixed identity. French heritage is at the core of New Orleans' past and we want to ensure that it continues to play a role in her future prosperity.

 Ways you can help:

- Make a donation. No amount is too small.

- Help us spread the word and  share on social media.

- Join us on April 20th for a public screening of select digital narratives from the community and announcement of contest winners.

-Connect with a diverse community to celebrate the Tricentennial, French language and a culture you won’t find anywhere else.
All contributions will go towards creating a really special event at an historic moment in New Orleans. We appreciate your help. Thanks so much!

Last Friday, the university community was able to unite with teachers students, and administrators from the local and international community to share student perspectives on language, place and identity.

The video screening marks the end of the Ma Francophonie NOLA Digital Storytelling Project (for this year). You'll be able to access student productions in the Digital Archives of the Howard Tilton Memorial Library. I'll be sure to post a link as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you all, for helping sponsor the different events that made this project possible and join us in congratulating the winners of the video contest: Joanitah Nakiggwe, Alecia Hodges and Vincent Grisby.

Kindest regards.

We have been able to meet a good part of our campaign goal thanks to generous donations and sponsorships from local businesses. This means that we no longer have to consider the expenses associated with hiring a videographer, most prizes, venue rental, etc. that were factored into the original budget.

Our new goal is set at $6000 and we're already almost a third of the way there. Please keep spreading the word in the next few weeks.

Thanks so much!

Appreciation for our cultural heritage starts young in LA. That’s why we want to give a special shout-out to The French Library not only for providing great children’s literature but for hosting storytime and crafts for the youngest members of our francophonie.
