Hello! My name is Madeline Cain, and I'm a professional soprano specializing in opera. I'm currently based in Rochester, New York, but I'm moving to Leipzig, Germany late this September. I've dreamed about moving to Germany ever since I studied German in high school, and I've finally been granted the opportunity to study overseas! I've been accepted into the Meisterklassenexamen program (a specialized post-grad program) at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater (Music and Theater Conservatory).
To move to Germany on a student visa, I need to prove that I can subsist without income. I do hope to take freelance gigs and work as a teacher, but the government requires proof in dollars in my account that I can live without income. That means nearly 8,000 Euros for this year. I have some personal savings, but not enough. My goal is to raise $2500, between this platform and a farewell benefit concert I'll be holding in Rochester, New York on Friday, September 9. If you are local, nothing would make me happier than to get to perform live for you.
I've been working toward my goal of being a freelancing opera singer for the last 14 years. All of my effort and my focus, every extra dollar, every summer, has been spent studying languages, singing, acting, dancing, and literature, creating performance opportunities, and promoting myself as an artist. I feel that this next step is a key one for me, and I'm very close financially to making this happen. It would mean the world to me if you would be willing to contribute to this fund, and assist me as I begin the most exciting chapter yet in my career journey.
