My name is Madeline Whallen and I am currently attending East Carolina University for a BFA in Musical Theatre. I am excited to announce that I have been accepted into the Tepper Program for Musical Theatre through Syracuse University, which I will attend in the spring semester of 2019!!
I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to be able to further my training and my craft in the heart of New York City, train with working professionals, and expose myself first-hand to my career! However, such an advantageous opportunity comes at a very high cost. Tuition for this incredible program is close $30,000 for the semester. Wowza! My goal is to raise the money by December of this year as I move to the city in January!
The training and education I am receiving at ECU has defined who I am as a performer and a person, and I can't imagine how I would have come as far as I have if I had been at any other school. In the three years I have been at ECU I have maintained above a 3.8 GPA and have been consistently honored as a member of the Dean's List for my academic performance. I have also been involved in many shows on the ECU main stage as well as 5th Street Players (the student-run theatre company). I have worked professionally as a dance captain and counselor for the Performance Edge Summer Showcase in Raleigh for many years. I now have the opportunity to wade in deeper waters for my education and your donations are going to make that possible!
