"Help the Madeariman Workers"
$5,182 of $5,275 goal
During the early morning of October 18th a landmark on the island of Anguilla burnt to the ground. It is not currently clear as to how or why the fire happened, but that is regardless. The new season for many local workers has just been eliminated by the fire and 8 people who have families and responsibilities have just had their primary source of income removed due to no fault of their own.
Thousands of peole go there each year and greatly appreciate the beauty and the friendship provided by these people. They give their time and energy to us having an enjoyable time.
It's times like this that we should show some appreciation back. We can afford to take vacations there, we should be able to share a few dollars and help them out when they really need our help.
Please give to the workers of the Madeariman Restaurant.
I am a friend and will be visiting there at the end of this year. It would be really great if I could present them with a gift that will help them through this tough period.
It is great news that we are ending up so close to the goal! I think it is awesome that everyone has shared their love and caring through this venue.
With the Gofundme fees and credit card charges the fund is going to net around $4700-$4800. I believe that was the number I last looked at a few weeks ago.
My plan is to present this gift to the Madeariman workers on New Years Eve. I welcome anyone who would like to be there. Please email me at email@example.com and I will keep you posted of the details. Depending on Internet access I will try and go live on FB but I am not aware of how far along that will be in the construction process.
I will be closing the fund about a week before that to ensure all transfers are made. (There's still time!)
Thank you again! and maybe we can share a drink or three at the new place... Again, just email me. Thanks !
Just to reiterate the transparency on this, I will be visiting there at the end of December. If I can figure out a way to get this to them earlier, I will do that but it being between countries and as remote as Anguilla is I want to ensure the transfer is secure.
Please pass the word and keep the help coming.
