MAARQUĪĪ "Lullaby in Gemini" EP

Donation protected
I am Marquise Dickerson, a black queer artist out of Portland, Oregon, living in Los Angeles. My music project “MAARQUII”, focuses on the representation of the QTPOC experience in music and in gender queer resistance. I am campaigning to raise money to cover expenses for my next EP, “Lullaby in Gemini,” and as a part of my release, I’ll be returning to Portland to curate a very special event during Portland Black Gay Pride. I'll be collaborating with some amazing artist collectives for a QTPOC (Queer, trans, people of color) centered party. I’ll also be working closely with, and donating a portion of the proceeds from the event to Sankofa, the only organization in the Northwest that is working towards the liberation of black, queer, trans youth.

Your generous donation will go towards:

-       Fairly compensating artists.
Collaboration is essential to my project.  I cannot do this alone and I have a team of passionate people alongside me to really make this project something It is of the utmost importance to me that these extremely talented individuals are financially compensated for their creative work.

*  Licensing and Copywriting

      Black artists frequently lose rights and credits to their work due to lack of protection for their art. Having the resources  to insure my work is protected would be such a blessing.

-       Music video production.

This is a visual project. It is necessary to hire videographers, rent studio time, rent     equipment, costume and production in order to deliver a sincerely polished piece

-       Rehearsal space rental.

Rehearsal space is necessary for video production as well as for the release party. I’ll be working with some very talented dancers and rehearsal space is a crucial component when learning choreography.

* Creation and Development

 * Art installations for release party

 * Venue permits

As an independent artist, it can be a challenge to execute projects in the way that our creative vision unfolds. Your donation directly helps to provide the freedom to release this project the way the artist and collaborators intended. Much more than that, with your financial support you are contributing to a movement that is drastically necessary; black, queer, resistance.  My mission is the healing, freedom, health and well being of the black queer community. These are trying times that we live in and our black, femme, queer community is a very under represented one.  Something I am making my lifes purpose to change.

With so much love, thank you! I am beyond excited to share this project with you!
