Looking to enhance the world’s beauty one face at a time
Hello, my name is Quinn and I will be attending the Make-Up Designory (MUD) academy in New York. I am beyond excited to perfect my skills in the artistry of makeup and begin my career in The Big Apple. I have eagerly accepted my place and I am anxious to begin my 6-month course this September. This is an incredible opportunity and I am exhilarated to gain knowledge and experience from some of the best in this industry to prosper as a successful professional makeup artist. MUD is one of the best in the States to gain knowledge from with many opportunities to flourish.
This academy is an accredited school with financial aid offered, but being that I’m planning to attend this course in a few short months and relocate from the Midwest to New York, not only has tuition gone up, the cost of living is double what I pay in my hometown. I plan on living in Student/Intern housing during the course of my stay and work while I am there. However, with me saving any extra money that I accumulate while still covering day-to-day expenses and bills, I am only able to save enough to cover a small portion of the total cost that I will need upon my arrival to New York. I am asking you for any support that you may be able to offer. Any amount helps. I assure you that all funds will go to the intended purposes of my education and living expenses.
About me
My love for makeup started while I attended fashion design school. In search for inspiration, I stumbled across an ad for Versace and it astounded me. Although the clothes were amazing, what attracted me to the photo was the face of the model; her makeup was breathtaking. From that day forward my life changed. I was inspired; I started to wear makeup and changed my appearance daily. I then pursued modeling for a short period and here is where my love for makeup grew tremendously. A makeup artist introduced me to the never-ending possibilities of eye shadow; it can be used in many ways. While observing her work what stood out was how she made everyone feel when she applied his or her makeup. Not only was it her energy but the makeup transformation that brought out our inner most feelings and thoughts of ourselves. I knew then that I no longer wanted to live under the strict guidelines of how I should look every day, and I no longer had the desire to be the canvas to the artist but instead the artist-creating master pieces with my tool of choice, the foundation brush, and other amazing products. My love and passion for makeup has superseded the amount that I had then, and now I want to be the artist that has the chance to make someone feel special. Makeup truly has no limits and no boundaries; with it I have endless possibilities to enhance and transform anyone's outer beauty to reflect their inner beauty.
I would love to be trained at Make-Up Designory because in order to be the best I need to be trained by the best. I will learn and develop skills in all categories of makeup from beauty to theatrical from actual working makeup artists. I will be able to branch out and compete in makeup competitions such as The Battle of the Brushes sponsored by IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show) and the have the skills to win that type of competition, and lastly but definitely not least with this academy supporting me as a makeup artist my career in this industry will be more bountiful. I feel as though clients, companies, and other professionals will respect me more knowing that I went to an academy where they specialize in teaching every aspect one needs to know to become a successful professional makeup artist, which is my overall goal.
In 10 years, I aspire to be the next Pat McGrath, Francesca Tolot, Bobbi Brown, Sam Fine and so many more following similar footsteps. I hope to take my education to many places such as but not limited to Broadway, Cirque Du Soleil, and Fashion- Week. I dream to be a top working makeup artist in all classifications of makeup from special effects to beauty. I hope that I can change what society depicts as beauty in my own special way leaving a mark on the world, and that I can encourage many people like myself that they should never give up on their dreams because in time and hard work dreams do come true.
I know that fear is the only thing holding me back and I choose to no longer be fearful and grab the bull by its horns! I chose New York because with determination everything is at my fingertips.
