In the beginning hours of September 29th I woke up with numbness all through my right arm, right side of my neck, and down into the right side of my right leg. I got out of bed thinking that would help and after a few minutes and no change I knew something was wrong. I was able to call my parents who live about 10 min away and they immediately drove as fast as they could to come pick me up and take me to the ER. I had to wake my wife up and tell her where I was going and that everything was going to be ok.
After being in the ER for about 15 minuets they wheeled me back for a CT scan. The results of that scan showed a small area in the back left part of my brain that was abnormal. The next few days where filled with blood tests, 3 MRI's, an Echo Cardiogram, EKG, Ultrasound of my neck, and a Lumbar Puncture. Results of all these tests slowly made there way to us and possibilities of what had caused this were getting ruled out. By the end of my stay, the only thing the hospital staff could tell me was that it was some type of Viral Encephalitis. Since the 29th of September, all feeling has returned with no side effects. Its been a crazy week but my wife, Kala, and I are happy that it is all over.
We have had amazing support through all this and it has been incredible to see our friends and family spring into action by doing whatever they can to help. Our next challenge to overcome is with basic bills and new medical bills that will be coming our way soon. With me missing a week of work and not having sick time, things are going to be extremely tight with our finances.
The funds being raised will go towards rent, utility, and other bills, along with our medical costs coming up. Kala, Liam, and I are asking that you would prayerfully consider giving whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to give. Any amount would be a huge help.
