EXPLORATION

Students are housed at Stanford and participate in intensive courses and include university-level topics.

Meet Alexis

Academically I am a 4.0 GPA student taking Pre-Calculus, Advance English and Advance Science (each class with a current grade of A) As a student I am very detail. I love to study.

What I like about school is interaction with my teachers, participating in class discussion working on teams and research. I love basic research and presentations.

My family; I am the middle child of five and we are more than familiar with overcoming challenges.

Passion for mathematics is what moves me. What I lack in natural ability I more than make up for in drive, persistent and hard work. I am intelligent and grateful along with living with compassion for those around me that are less fortunate.

Community Service; I volunteer at Astoria Gardens an assisted living facility for Seniors with memory loss condition such as Alzheimer's. I love to read; I read to residents, and play games with them.

As a member of our school Leadership I learn from my peers, teachers and coaches. Moreover, I have been raised by parents that truly believe in providing me a stable home environment and in return all they want is for each of us thrive and be happy.

Why do I want to attend University Pre-Collegiate Summer School?

Ignited by my father's love for mathematics my love of Math started when I could barely walk. Today my passion to explore how the universe works is consuming. The study of physics shows us the theory and rules that attempt to give us solutions to space and times. My goal is to expand my understanding of the universe and mathematics; and grow my knowledge in a field that humbles me daily.

My non-academic interests include

I enjoy sports and have been training in Brazilian Jujitsu for Six Years requiring dedication to a strong body and mind. I enjoy singing in both Spanish and English (while my Spanish signing is not great LOL) and I run track; the 220 and 440 meters, and play volleyball.
