Funds for Baby Ezra's Heart Surgery

$3,140 of $25,000 goal

Stephanie and Ramiro have been told their first born child has HLHS.
Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a condition where the left side chambers of the heart develop too small to work effectively. This is a problem because the left side of the heart pumps blood to the body. With this side being too small, the body does not get the blood it needs. As a result, the baby can become very sick shortly after birth. If this condition is untreated, the baby usually will die.
They will be traveling to Ohio to seek the best treatment for Baby Ezra. He will need 3 surgeries, the first within the first few days of being born, the second when he is a few months old, and the third when he is 2-3 years old.
We are asking for your prayers and any donation you are able to provide to help them direct their attention where it needs to be , with Baby Ezra

When Stephanie was 20 weeks pregnant, my ultrasound revealed that Ezra's heart was not complete. They were devastated. Since birth Ezra has been through so much. Ezra has HLHS, Mitral stenosis aortic atresia and LeftVentricle sinusoids to coronaries. He has already had the hybrid procedure and had a BAS. After his BAS he developed a Junctional heart rhythm and had 1st degree AV block. With the help of some medicine and temporary pacing wires, his heart beat and arrhythmias were under control. He was doing much better and was about to be discharged on June 29th but they did one last echo which revealed that the squeeze of his heart had weakened causing the tricuspid valve to leak. He had a cath procedure done the following morning because they believed his retro aortic arch had narrowed. The cath procedure revealed that the arch was perfectly fine, however, the sinusoids that were originally there were not there anymore. Now they're understanding that those sinusoids were helping the coronary arteries feed oxygen to the heart. With them not being there anymore, the heart is not getting enough oxygen. Ezra has been receiving heart medications to help the squeeze of his heart. He had another echo done 2 days ago which revealed his function squeeze was a little better, mild to moderate, they said, which could be because he had a chance to rest his heart while being sedated and on a breathing tube, but they don't expect him to get better in the long run. We still continue to have hope that a miracle will happen, but if not, they know we will see him again in paradise and Jehovah God will continue to give us strength. So for now, the plan is to reintroduce feeds slowly and get him on oral medicine and if he continues to be stable we will travel back home together. And if he gets worse again, we will try to have him transported to Phoenix children's hospital. We appreciate all your love and prayers, keep them coming

Well here it is, the day has come where we take off to Ohio. This is a bittersweet moment, I'm sad to leave my hubby and family for so long but I know when I come back in 6 weeks, I will have my little sweet boy in my arms, the one I've been dreaming about and praying for, the one I love with all my heart. I want to thank all of our friends and family for all of the emotional, financial, and spiritual help you have shown towards us. Jehovah has really blessed us and I know we will get through this, we are strong.

The doctor Said he is chunky and has big cheeks. This is awesome for HLHS babies, the more meat they have, the better it is for surgeries. Stephanie is making sure he eats well! Thank you for all your support, it is encouraging.
