Lympstone to Cadover Bridge yomp

In December 2016 my husband Matt Drake was left paralyzed from the chest level (T3 complete) after an accident whilst deployed with 42 Commando Royal Marines. 2017 has been the worst/hardest year of our lives and Matt has been so amazing. Going from 6 weeks flat bed rest to then getting stuck into rehab giving it his all. I can't say in words how proud I am of him! I really wanted to do something for him which would challenge me which leads me to this yomp. Myself and a small group of ladies are yomping from CTCRM Lympstone to Cadover Bridge; 50 miles NON-STOP walk to raise valuable funds to help Matt get a batec manual. Batec manual is an attachment for his wheel chair which will help him get out and about while getting a workout in as well; meaning he can get out with our two boys while they're on bikes.
If we are lucky enough to reach our target then the surplus funds will be split between Lympstone pre-school which is a charity run pre-school where our son goes, and the Royal Marines Charity who have provided much needed support which has had a huge impact on our lives.
Any donation is greatly received. Thank you for your support and following our journey as we get ready to complete the yomp in April.
*Exciting update*
The Royal Marines Charity have very generously offered to buy Matt the attachment for his wheelchair which will allow him to be able to take part in so many family activities that he currently cannot access. We cannot thank the RMC enough as a family for all of the support they have given us over the last year!
With this in mind we can switch the focus of the fundraising for the walk a little bit.
Myself and the team will now be walking our 50 miles to raise valuable funds for the RMC (70%) and our son’s Preschool - Lympstone Preschool (30%) on behalf of Matt as a thank you for the continued support on offer to us. Due to the nature of Matt’s injury we will have long term connections with the RMC and want to show our appreciation for all that they have done for us and all that they continue to do for so many families in need of support.
