Lyme disease treatment in Malaysia

Lyme disease is making every day life a struggle for two young Australian sisters Brooke Weeks (18) and Chantelle Weeks (17). The two girls have had Lyme disease for over 6 years now, as there is no recognition of this disease in Australia and no help from medical professionals on curing the disease. Their health continues to deteriorate day by day.
Lyme disease is a tick borne disease that can become life threatening as it affects the nervous system, organs, tissues and brain function. The girls experience ongoing pain from the moment they wake up until they go back to sleep, even sleeping can be a struggle. This disease has definitely had a huge impact on their lives, in fact Chantelle has had to leave her high school and start home schooling just to get through her higher school certificate. Brooke was lucky enough to get through her HSC in 2016, although she has had to make a lot of sacrifices around the disease, which includes taking a step back from her local NSW Rural Fire Brigade where she currently volunteers when she can.
A Malaysian medical team specialise in treatment of Lyme disease. This is of some hope for the girls with an 80% cure rate, though the trip will come at a cost. The treatment is over a period of 45 days and will cost a huge $35,000. The girls will have to be accompanied by their mum Teressa Weeks and will leave Sydney on 12th March 2017 and return home on 28th April 2017.
