Luke's Road to Recovery

Dear Family & Friends,
As some of you may or may not have heard, our friend and brother, Luke Beemer, was in a very serious hit and run accident this morning. It happened while crossing the street right outside his apartment in NYC where a box truck hit him and immediately exited the scene without stopping or slowing down. Emily and his parents said that if we are going to let you all know what happened and what type of condition he is in, to tell everything.
Luke was dragged a considerable distance down the street before he was run over completely. His chest was crushed, breaking almost every single one of his ribs in addition to rupturing his bronchial tube that leads to his right lung. He has multiple facial fractures, a broken femur in his right leg, and multiple fractures to his spine. Lastly, he sustained a small brain bleed. The doctors are hopeful that he will make a full recovery, but have warned us to be prepared for a long uphill battle with a future that at the moment, is uncertain. At the minimum, he will require three surgeries, one of which he is currently in.
Undoubtedly, this accident will cause numerous expenses that will not be covered under insurance. In addition, he just recently signed a lease in NYC that he will have no way of paying for as his next few weeks and months will be spent in hospitals.
This is something we all hope we never have to be a part of, but we are asking for your help to make his long road to recovery as easy as possible. We thank you in advance for any and all contributions. His parents have asked that instead of cards, balloons, flowers, etc. to please direct your donations toward this campaign.
