Luke’s Cancer Battle

$108,095 of $100,000 goal

Raised by 805 people in 17 months
Created January 29, 2018
My nephew, Luke, who turns 2 in May, has been diagnosed with late stage Neuroblastoma, which is an aggressive cancer that has filled half of his abdominal cavity.  His treatment will require a minimum of one year of chemotherapy, radiation and a possible bone marrow transplant.

His parents, Bill & Rachalle are struggling to decide whether to relocate to Memphis at St Jude’s Children’s hospital or if they should remain at UNC.  They are both teachers and Rachalle must leave her position to care for Luke full time.  They anticipate tremendous hospital bills, loss of income and frequent travel expenses for Bill if they decide to relocate Luke to Memphis.
The outpouring of love and support from everyone has been tremendous and is without measure. Cancer has a way of making everyone feel powerless to help.  I’m hoping this will alleviate some of the pressure they are under so they can focus on the fight before them. Thank you for your continued love and generosity.

This site is still up and running! I know most of you follow via our facebook group or caringbridge. For those who don't, Luke was in remission as of July of 2018. He relapsed in October of 2018, but has been in remission since November of 2018. He is still in active treatment, which means monthly trips from North Carolina to New York City. We are so thankful for those who continue to, and have contributed to us. Luke is doing great!

Bill, Rachalle, and Luke have arrived at the Ronald McDonald House in NYC, and will be meeting with the surgeon at Sloan Kettering tomorrow to plan for Wednesday’s surgery. The tumor has shrunk significantly and has broken into smaller pieces, which is apparently a very good thing. Thank you all for your considerable support and the incredible love you’ve all shown. Keep those prayers coming. ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve been quiet since all has been going well without much to report. Today Luke is having his last scan at UNC before he heads to Sloan Kettering next week. Fingers crossed that tumor’s gotten even smaller. Thank you for all your amazing prayers and support. ❤️❤️❤️
