Luke's fight for justice

Donation protected
In December 2013, Queensland Police Senior Constable Luke Weiks was stabbed in the neck in an unprovoked attack during a foot patrol of a licensed premises in Townsville, Queensland.  Luke was admitted to ICU and almost died.  As a result of the severe trauma to Luke's body, he  was diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder which resulted in further admissions to hospital.  Despite his ordeal and the psychological diagnoses that followed, Luke returned to work as a police officer in the Police Communications Centre where he has remained ever since.  Rather than commend Luke for returning to work in the face of adversity, the QPS has relentlessly targeted Luke with bullying tactics, and repeated abuse of their disciplinary system and medical retirement process in an attempt to 'manage him out'.   Luke was eventually coerced into transitioning into a civilian position, under the threat of dismissal if he didn't accept the position.  Whilst the QPUE and one of it's law firms assisted in initially disputing the transition, Luke is no longer a QPUE member now that he is a civilian.  I have emailed the President of the QPUE requesting assistance for Luke (since they negotiated the position for him) but I have received no response.  The goal posts and sustainability of that negotiated position have now changed and Luke again faces potential dismissal.  Luke continues to be bullied, financially penalised, and is being singled out and victimised once again by the organisation that promotes that 'Our [their] People Matter'.   Now Luke faces extensive legal bills to fight against the organisation that is trying to ruin him, and is making a stand against the systemic bullying and abuse of power in the QPS.  If you can spare any small amount to help with Luke's legal bills, any assistance is sincerely appreciated. This practice is widespread in the QPS and Luke is standing up to hold them accountable.  Please get behind him in his fight for justice.  Note: Luke's hobbies are cars and bikes which he is having to sell to fund his legal bills.  The result of removing the mechanism of his hobbies is that one of Luke's coping strategies and method of 'escaping' the stress this is causing him will also be removed.  It shouldn't come to this, but sadly it has.
