Bournemouth Marathon for SuperJosh
I will be running my first ever marathon in Bournemouth on 4th October and have decided to also raise money for the fantastic Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity.
I worked with with Josh's mum for many years and have been inspired by the amazing impact young Josh has had on everyone he met, and the legacy his charity has left since he sadly died.
Joshua Wilson, nicknamed SuperJosh, was a happy, normal 3 year old before being unexpectedly diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2004. Life saving surgery removed the tumour however, due to the location of the tumour on the brain stem, he was left with complex physical disabilities.
After spending many years fundraising to buy specialist equipment and house adaptations for Josh, his family launched The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity to celebrate his 13th Birthday in 2013. The charity helps children like Josh who have brain tumours with anything from grants and specialist care equipment to childrens ward entertainment packages to help cheer up their stays.
From Christmas 2013, Dawn was told seven times in eight months her son only had 48 hours to live. Josh defied all odds, and turned 14 in August of 2014 but sadly died in November. Since his passing, Dawn and Josh’s other family members have maintained their commitment to his Charity ensuring a legacy of Josh's desire to help others in need.
