My name is Lucas Lothamer, and I am running for the position of Tarrant County Tax Assessor. For years I have been a passionate advocate for economic and social equality which has led me to run for office in 2016.
I am a born and raised Texan Democrat who loves his state and his country and would like to make a positive difference in my community. I was educated close to home, having earned my BA and MA in political science from the University of Texas at Arlington. While a student, I have devoted my time to my studies and Progressive ideals. I have served as the president of the University Democrats, worked for the LGBTQA Program as a graduate advisor, and committed myself to learning everything I can about the workings of government.
I have volunteered for many Democrats over the years. I walked door to door in an effort to elect Wendy Davis as our governor, I made phone calls reminding citizens to vote, and worked to register Democrats to vote in elections. I have done this because I beieve in the ideals of a strong working class, a living wage, and a fair system where all people have equal rights regardless of their race, color, religion, gender, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, age, or national origin.
2016 is going to be a big year for many reasons. We will be working hard to elect a new Democratic president and to ensure the election of more democratic members to Congress. However, we cannot forget the importance of local offices that play an important role in our lives. That is why I am asking for your help.
In order to be placed on the ballot, we need to raise $1,250 by December 14th. I know it may seem like a lot, but if 125 people make a small $10 contribution, we can easily reach our goal. So please, give what you can so we can ensure a progressive candidate is on the ballot. If you cannot donate, then please share this on your social media pages and to all your friends. Together, we can make a difference.
