33701238_1539403555495265_r.jpegJason Oliver is a Lieutenant with Lafayette Fire department and our closest friends. Jason and his wife Maigan went to Cancun, Mexico on Wednesday to spend a week celebrating their anniversary (which is today) Over the last two days Jason started to develop neurological symptoms and was taken by ambulance to the local hospital this afternoon where they found him to have a spontaneous brain bleed. This hospital has already made them pay nearly $3000 out of pocket just to run basic tests and get a cat scan. He is now admitted to the ICU in Cancun and has to be monitored for 7-10 days and surgery is still a possibility. Cost is $6000 a day in the ICU. Please consider helping a brother and his family offset ease the immediate financial burden until we can get him back to the states where they are covered under insurance. Anything helps. If you can’t donate please share this page.
Thank you ❤️

Just wanted to give a quick update on Jason Oliver’s health status, he is doing better and hasn’t had any major headaches in past 2 days and has even not taken any pain meds, which make him not feel well anyway! We are very optimistic that he will be fully recovered soon!! Still no work or driving and certainly not the end of this, but feeling much better about prognosis! We are still both sooo overwhelmed by how much friends and family have done to help us through this!! Even those friends that we don’t even necessarily know!! I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has shown us support over the past 2 weeks!!

From Maigan-

Update on Jason Oliver! We are so thankfully back in Colorado!!! We met with neurologist this morning, CTA was done and we have been released to go home for the next several weeks. This means there is no immediate concern for additional bleeding at this time. Jason will be out of work for at least 6 weeks, can’t workout and can’t drive for 2 weeks, which for those of you who know him well know this is going to be REALLY difficult for him!! His identity is in his job as a firefighter and he is super independent! BUT..he is here with us and doing fairly well!! They are still trying to find cause of the problem and have ordered an MRI in several weeks to see if there is more information that can be determined after some of the current bleeding has resolved. For now, his headaches still remain pretty intense and they changed his meds today to help more, thank God, but he is in best spirits possible and still so overwhelmed and humbled by how many people have shown love and support to our family through this crazy trip! He’s very upset for “ruining our anniversary trip” and I’ve assured him we will take an amazing vacation to make up for it, within the US, when all this has resolved!! Although we have enjoyed trips to Mexico in the past, I certainly have no plans of going back any time in the near future! Neither one of us blame Mexico or it’s people, just systems and maybe a corrupt few that make the whole country look bad, just like our own! Not an experience I ever want to deal with again though!

He is home!!! Landed safely at DIA. escorted by Denver Fire’s finest through the gate and customs where they were greeted by their kids, family, friends, fire department brothers and families as well as 9 news and Fox 31 to cover his homecoming. He is tired and still has a pretty bad headache but he’s home and resting. We aren’t out of the woods but they are where they need to be. Jason has an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow morning and I’ll comtinue to update the page as we get more information and a better idea of his condition.
