LSBeez are producers of premium quality honey in the pristine environment of Kangaroo Island, South Australia.

Kangaroo Island is an ideal environment for honey production because it is home to the purest remaining strain of Ligurian Bee in the world. Their geographical-isolation keeps them free of the major bee diseases. This is important in an ever-increasing health conscious world.

Apiarist Lynne Bell and her daughter Sarah Mitchell, in association with their hive manager and close friend Renee Clifford, have been operating LSBeez for the past six years.

LSBeez produces queen bees, honey, and propolis. We crop 5 tonne of honey per annum and supply our honey to health-conscious retail and wholesale customers, and supply queen bees to apiarists around Australia.

We presently operate and manage 120 hives, and plan to expand to 200 over the next 5 years. We also manage a further 45 for hive owners on Kangaroo Island.

Lynne and Sarah's main focus is to breed Ligurian queen bees that are hygienic, productive and less aggressive.

Lynne's family have been farming on Kangaroo Island since the late 1800's. Sarah currently resides in Adelaide and travels regularly to work in the business.

On Jan 1st 2016 the operation suffered a major setback with the tragic death of Renee Clifford in a car accident.

This halted our hive collection, cropping and extracting. Family and friends have been supporting us since then. But that cannot continue forever.

It now becomes necessary for Sarah and her family to live permanently on Kangaroo Island, and to take on the business full-time. Lynne will become an advisor and educator.

To get our business back on track, the following assets will be needed:
1. - Property - for Apiary and Work sheds - $300,000
2. - Shed based Decapper - This machinery opens frames to enable honey to flow out easily - $5,000
3. - 12 x Frame extractor - Spins the honey from the hives and decants into tubs - $3,500
4. - Tractor Avant 200 - For movement of hives, mowing of apiary, and other tasks to keep the property in pristine condition - $25,000

TOTAL $ 333,500

This funding is ideally required before December 31st 2016 (the anniversary of Rene's death) to ensure we get a property that fits our needs and gives us plenty of time to move our equipment from Adelaide.

We have an ongoing commitment to producing boutique honey with Ligurian Bees on Kangaroo Island as we want to continue the work that CJ Coleman began.

We currently have our honey available to purchase at five locations upon Kangaroo Island, and two locations in Adelaide, plus we periodically sell honey via Facebook. We also have a health-food distributor in Adelaide supplying retail outlets with our produce.

With your support, LSBeez can continue to provide OUR premium quality honey to both Adelaide metropolitan and Kangaroo Island businesses.

Over the last twelve months, Sarah and I have spent nearly every day seeking property large enough for an apiary.

Consequently, we have become more ingrained with the local community than we were already. We are now well known by the real-estate agents.

Thankfully Lynn from Kingscote Century21 realised how serious we are - and found a house/garage that suits our situation perfectly.

** We are now packing our home of 20 years to move to a rental in Kingscote, Kangaroo Island. **

Comprising of a nice house for our small family, plus a large shed for our business equipment, we can continue our business successfully.

The future is going to be fun in the Kangaroo Island sun, busy with LSbeez, and a great bee-change for us and our young boys!

Our plans haven't stopped, they are merely delayed...
