Low-Income Tuition Fund
Donación protegida
For the last seven years, my colleagues and I have built up Applications, Materials, Links, Opportunities, and Connections (AMLOC), a group that contains more than 22,000 high schoolers, undergraduates, graduates, young professionals, and mature professionals. Via this group, we've done hundreds of advising calls, equipped people with jobs, assisted students with their university applications, and built a community whose members' focus has become helping one another.
There are 22,000+ of us in AMLOC, guys, but there are some of us - approximately ten thus far - who'll likely suffer more directly than others if free tuition policies are changed. Some people have messaged me about having to move out of where they currently live, fearing a severe loss of credit, having to make unprecedented choices about whether or not to enrol in law school, and being anxious because they will holistically be unable to afford their education.
Thankfully, again… there are 22,000+ of us! While I don't know how much can be done to modify this policy, I do know that if even half of us contributed five dollars, we’d bring in approximately $55,000 CAD: more than enough to create a pool from which those of our members who will struggle could draw at least a little bit each.
I’m thus asking something like this for the first time: If AMLOC has ever helped you, drop us five dollars! This money will remain in one place, waiting for people who need to use it; I’ll keep everyone abreast of how it is being allotted, and will strive to maintain utmost fairness. At worst, if no one within our group utilizes what we raise, we can always convey it to other students in need.
I’ve yet to develop a tangible plan for whom to help and how, in part because aspects of the aforementioned policy changes aren’t as yet clear, from what I know; if we end up not needing to give this money to anyone, it’ll be returned to you.
We’re a community, and we already support one another in so many ways. Here's another chance to impact your fellow AMLOCers' lives.
