Dogs Lives Matter (Forever Home)

Let me tell you a little about our story so you can understand our doggies stories. My husband and I have been rescuing abused, abandoned and mistreated animals for over 14 years. Threw our time together we have found FOREVER homes for over 30 doggies, all who were in desperate need of knowing what a REAL family is. We now have adopted 10 that will ALWAYS have a home with us. These are our babies now, and some have unique situations, and with medical conditions and their age being 12-15, we surely couldn't let them go. So that's why we're turning to other animal lovers for help. We have devoted our lives to our furry family, and we want them to live the remainder of their lives knowing how truly loved they are. I put a pic of each one below, and a little info about them, they are needing any help to supply there medications, special diets and some more often vet visits for their special situations. We wouldn't be a family without them, and I could never imagine my life if they weren't in it.

1. Pepper- 15 Years old, has had seizures since she was 3 and is on 2 separate medications twice a day Phenobarbital and Potassium Bromide. She is partially blind and has hip and joint problems (so she wear little booties on her feet to help from sliding). This past year we was tough for her, she had 6 teeth removed and we almost lost her due to her kidneys shutting down. The vet thought she only had about 30days left to live, but I wouldn't believe that. I brought her home and have her Pedialyte in a syringe every 2 hours (to keep her hydrated), as well as feeding her baby food on a spoon for 2 weeks(she would not eat). And with LOTS of extra LOVE that was 8 months ago! And guess what, she's still here and going strong. Some people say Love can't save you, well to those people they need to meet Pepper!

2. Cannoli- She is a 14 year old Chihuahua, who is blind (that's why hers eyes are so blue), has a leaking heart and has had a stroke. After her stroke we were unsure if she was going to survive, she couldn't walk, eat or drink on her own or even go to the bathroom on her own for over 2 weeks. We did therapy with her back legs to try to help her get the ability to walk again, and feed her with a spoon and got her to drink with a syringe. That was 5 years ago, and here she is. She's walking on her own, playing and even gets excited and starts doing a little dance when it's time to eat. Since her stroke she cannot fully turn her neck, and we have recently found out she has a leaking heart (i never even knew that was a thing), but put vet has her on medication she takes once a day that should help with that. She is on the same diet as Pepper, with the only difference being hers has to be cut up very small so she can chew and swallow it easier. I'm telling you these doggies are surely not ready to give up.

3. Bella- She is the newest addition, we adopted her about a year and a half ago. She was going to be put down only because the shelter ran out of room and needed the extra space. So here she is, a perfect addition to out family. About 3 months ago we brought her to the vet with bad swelling on her face, we were told she needs the large teeth in the back taken out of the top and bottom, and if we don't get it done it can cause Periodontal disease (which could hurt her organs), also she has a small tumor on the top of her head, which the vet said he could remove the same time he takes out her teeth. They had gave us Antibiotics for the infection, which seemed to help for now, and she is restricted to a Soft Food diet only.

4. Shadow- This is my very handsome 4 year old black lab. We had got him from The Prison Program, where the prisioners help train and work with the dogs. He never had a home or family before us, and he shows us everyday how much he appreciates us. Shadow must be one of the world's greatest dogsdogs, that's the best way to describe him. He was brought to the shelter as a puppy at about 2 months old. He stayed there until he was old enough to be transferred to The Prison. Thats where we found him, he was extremely scared and has never had a home without bars, this was all he knew since he was a little guy. Well, no more. He's home, FOREVER, and he needs very little, with his only issuers being allergic to fleas and certain soaps and having eat mite issues (the vet said this is common in labs).

5. Miracle- She is the ONLY ONE born with us and is about 9 years old. Her Mom was Destiny (one of our best rescues of all time) and very sadly she had passed away just after last Christmas. She was cremated and sits on our mantle so she can be with us always. Miracle is a pretty big girl, with a big belly and even a bigger heart. About 3 years ago we brought her to the vet with a knot on the top of her head. We were told it was a Tumor, but he said as long as it was still moving it shouldn't be to much of a threat. This past year it has at least got 3X's of its original size. It is now larger than a golf ball and at the very top of her skull. We need to get this removed ASAP, before it has complications and can become life threatening. She is a very happy girl, and I hate to have to do this to her, but we know it is the safest for her in the long run.

6. Rocky- This is Rocky, he is a 10 year old lab mix and his name describes him perfect. He was our neighbors dog about 8 years ago, we were outside in the yard and heard a car lock up their brakes, we looked over and Rocky and his brother both got hit by the car. His brother wasn't hurt very bad and took off running back into their yard, but Rocky laid their crying. We ran over and he had a large gash in his neck, so we scooped him up and rushed him to the vet. Amazingly this little guy was hard as a rock (which is how he got the name Rocky), even with the hard hit to his bones and head he had No severe trauma. The worst was the gash on his neck, which just required antibiotics and to be wrapped and changed frequently. The vet said it couldn't be stitched because of infection and he was right, Rocky healed perfect. Now at 10 years old he has cataracts and just has eye gel from the vet to help with build up the corners of his eyes make. And just to let you know, those neighbors didn't get him back. They said they can't take care of him anyway and they didn't need the extra responsibility (we ended up with 2 more of there dogs on the end). That was fine with us, he's been here ever since.

7. Sugar-9 years old mini husky mix with NO TEETH. This cute little thing got her name from being white and sweet as sugar. She came from those same neighbors Rocky did. This case was a horrible sign of neglect, and we told these people they were going to give her to us and we were calling the police. Our Sugar was a tiny small little thing, about 5 months old. These people brought her home from someone they knew in the middle of a bad winter. She was left HAIRLESS, covered in scans and soars sitting in a foot of snow with no food or water, not even anything to keep warm. She was hooked under there front porch, with snow all around it. I was beyond horrified at this, at least they realized they were wrong and let us take her. She took awhile to get back to what might resemble a dog. The vet said with her being so malnourished at such a young age is the reason why her teeth never developed. She has also had some internal problems, she cannot hold anything in her bladder, we were told this was also due to how she was treated as a baby. But she's all grown up and loving life. Her tongue ALWAYS hangs out if the side of her mouth (she has no teeth to hold it in), and when she plays she wrinkles up her nose and attacks her toy, like this cute little thing could ever be scary. Her only needs are all soft food, and soft toys and treats. This is kinda for a obvious reason, she tries grabbing the bones from the other guys, but it's way to harsh on her gums. My little Sugar, what a sweet thing.

8. Rosie- This is the 3rd baby we ended up with from those same neighbors (their gone now). When they moved out they left her behind with nothing but a dead deer to eat. Yeah you read that right, no good or water, they actually brought a dead deer into their back yard and left it for this poor starving dog to eat. Its hard to even say how long she's as left there, our babies outside would start to carry on at night, and we never seen anything outside. Finally one day our big boy Hemi was carrying on and facing next door. That's when my husband went over there, and sure enough there was Rosie. Covered in blood from the deer, and the smell was horrible. So here she came, with the rest of the group to her new home. We had the vet look her over and she had very bad worms and a horrible infection. With some medicine from the same faithful vet who's been helping us along the way, here she is, beautiful and healthy. Just like they should be!

9. Petie- He is a 10 year old Snowzer, who thinks he's 10 foot tall and bullet proof. We actually knew him when he was a little guy, never thinking years later he would come to be ours. We were volunteering at our shelter about 6 years ago and their he was. We couldn't believe he was there, we asked the Animal control officer what happened and they said the owners evicted the tenants and left him behind. He has always been a house dog and would never last being adopted out (he has a little attitude), so here he is, home with us. He's made himself right at home and has no real issues, just a flea allergy.

10. Hemi- Last but certainly not least is the biggest of them all. He is a 8 year old Great Pyranise and weighs about 120lbs. He is such a amazing big boy, so gentle, and loving even with the little guys. We had got him from the same shelter as Petie, but Hemi's situation was different. He was brought in by his original owners, they could no longer take care of him. And because of his size and he had kennel cough he was set to be euthanized. He was only 2 years old at that time, still a playful pup, a big boy, but so sweet. We couldn't let that happen, so home he came with us. With just 1 visit to the vet, his kennel cough was all gone and he was healthy as healthy could be. He has very limited needs, most important is a new shaver. His hair is so beyond think it is really tough to get threw. He would love some new super sized bones and chew toys, being so big the regular stuff doesn't work. But that's it, he's happy and perfect.

So this is our story, I'm so sorry it is so long, I really just wanted you to get to know our family. We need any help we can get, and we want to continue to do this for as long as we can. I know there's so many animals in this world that will never have a family, and will never know what Love and a Home is. But we will keep trying to save 1 at a time.
