6/2/18 UPDATE:

Hi Everyone,

Lovey has somehow suffered a pretty bad pelvic fracture. The vet suspects that along with the large fracture visible that she also has 2 more hairline fractures in her pelvis. In addition, her left kneecap is also fractured.

We have no idea how this happened, but what matters now is that she heals and gets the care she needs.

This involves "crate rest" for 4-6 weeks, in addition to mild sedatives and pain killers to keep her comfortable. She is staying with Charlotte while she heals, so she will no longer be present at the store.  (But Charlotte will talk to you about her all day if you let her!)

The shop has finally (though reluctantly) decided that Lovey needs an appropriate Forever Home. Suitable candidates will live in the area, (no rental properties please, she needs a stable situation) have no other pets, no small children and be willing to take on an older, fragile cat that is FIV+ and requires daily prescription medication to manage her Irritable Bowel Disease.

Please contact Lisa at ashevilleravenandcrone@gmail.com, RE: LOVEY if you or someone you know can meet this sweet, magical fluffmuffin's needs. She is very precious to both the shop and our community.

In the meantime, we could really use some financial help covering the medicine she is going to need for the next 4-6 weeks. This includes mild sedatives, pain killers, her usual IBD medication and Lysine, as well as follow-up appointments at the Animal Hospital of North Asheville to monitor her healing process.

Thank you all so much for your continued love and support of her fund. We couldn't manage this without you! You can donate in person at the shop as well.

Love,
Lovey, Lisa A., Lisa W., Michael, Beth & Charlotte

----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you've ever stopped in to Asheville Raven & Crone, you've probably met our adorable, fluffy store manager Lovey!

Lovey has been diagnosed with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. ( F.I.V)  As a result, she gets sick much more easily, and is much more delicate than healthy cats. She has some recurring health problems that we are trying our best to manage, such as Upper Respiratory Infections and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She was previously misdiagnosed as having Feline Leukemia, since both illnesses share similar symptoms.

Lovey needs vet visits much more frequently than healthy cats. She also needs special medication to help treat her various problems.  She is a long-haired cat as well, and requires professional grooming every 6 months or so to keep her clean and fluffy.

Your donations go straight to helping Lovey. It helps us pay for her frequent vet visits and medications, her groomer, her favorite cat food, litter, treats, and anything else she needs to stay as happy and healthy as possible.

The continued support of our community and folks who adore Lovey has allowed us to afford the all care that she needs!

You can donate to Lovey's Health Fund here, or in person at the shop register.

Thank you all so much!

-Lovey, Lisa, Michael, Charlotte & Beth

Hi everyone!
Lovey is doing well, and her potential Forever-Home family came by Charlotte's house last week to formally meet and introduce their son. (It went very well!) She is down to one Gabapentin a day currently ( mild sedative/painkiller). Our vet has stated that he would feel more comfortable extending her crate-rest time a bit. We will be bringing her in again on July 26th for her first set of follow up x-rays. In the meantime, we may move Lovey into her new home while she is still on crate-rest so that she can adjust to the new surroundings, smells and sounds before being let out. Once she gets settled into her new home we will get some photos for you!
Thank you all so much for your loving support of our sweet buddy. We couldn't do this without you.
Love,
Lovey, Lisa A., Lisa W., Michael, Beth & Charlotte

Hi Everyone,

Charlotte reports that today Lovey is doing just as well as she can right now, considering her injuries. We are waiting for a call from the vet this week to inform us how best to move forward with her healing process.

We were concerned that because both of her back legs are injured she would not be able to get into the litter box or posture properly to pee or poop. Since Charlotte began administering the stronger pain killers she has been able to hobble to the litter box and perform all vital cat functions. ( Charlotte has modified her litter box as well so that she can get in and out without lifting her legs much.)

Her apatite is healthy, she is drinking water and chilling in her crate in Charlotte's downstairs apartment. She is currently on a mild sedative to reduce pain and anxiety called Gabapentin, and a stronger pain killer called Buprenex. These are both given to her every 12 hours to help with the discomfort. She gets tons of snuggles, pets and treats. Every morning Charlotte gently transfers her to her carrier to shake out litter from her blanket, clean her litter box and groom her. She is then carefully transferred back into her crate to rest and get spoiled some more.

There are going to be more x-rays and follow-up appointments for her in the near future, as well as prescription re-fills. We really appreciate any support!

Thank you all so much for helping Lovey!

Blessed Be,
-Lovey, Lisa A., Lisa W., Michael, Beth & Charlotte

Hi Everyone,
Lovey At Charlotte's House After Vet

Hi Everyone!
Lovey is doing very well right now! We have finally found a solution to her diarrhea issue. The Proviable supplements are working very well. No more horrifying litter box! The vet would like to keep Lovey on Proviable as long as we can, so we need to buy a new box weekly. The supplement costs around 36 dollars a box, so we really appreciate your continued support of our fluffy buddy! Her Upper Respiratory Infection cleared up entirely as well.
We have a new issue though... fleas! :(
There is a neighborhood cat that has been trying to sneak in the front door of the shop, and he's succeeded more than once! We've had to put a notice up on the door about him. We think he may have transferred some fleas to Lovey, which is NOT a good thing. We are treating her with Advantage II for Cats now as well.
Thank you all so much for your continued support!
