Jenny was enjoying a walk in the beautiful snow with her husband, Rick,  and one of her 3 sons, Nick, when a tree branch snapped striking her in the back of the head and back severing her spine. Her severe spinal cord injury has caused paralysis from the waist down. Jen has also sustained other injuries as well.

Jen is an amazing stay at home mom to her 3 boys, Matt (19), Zack (16), and Nick (14).  Matt has graduated and is attending Kennesaw State University and also working on his pilot's license. Jen will continue to homeschool Zack and Nick. Her husband, Rick, is self-employed and works diligently to support his family 6 to 7 days a week.

Jen has a long road to recovery and will move to a spinal rehabilitation center when her other injuries improve and she is stable.

Any donation can help Jen and her family as she goes through recovery, will give Rick an opportunity to care for her, and help take care of the immense medical bills, as well as, help modify her home so that it will be wheelchair friendly when she comes home.

If you are able to donate in any way to help make this unexpected transition in life easier for Jen and her family, we would appreciate it very much.  Your support means so much.

We are thrilled that Jen is home after spending months learning how to do life on a whole different level. It is tough. There are good and bad days, but she is getting stronger every day. She is beginning outpatient therapy 2 to 3 days a week. Some renovations have started in the house which will make things more practical for her needs. We had a great time on Sunday at our parents celebrating Zack’s 17th birthday. Lots of laughs! It was the first time that most of our immediate family could be together outside of Shepherds. Thank you for all of your continued prayers, love, and support. We will always be grateful to you all.

Rick and the boys brought Jinx up for a visit with Jen yesterday. It was great for her to get outside for a bit.

Jen continues to work hard at Shepherds Center with an intense schedule Monday through Saturday. Due to insurance reasons, the surgery to repair the base of her thumb will happen once she is released. At the time being, Jen can put as much pressure on her left hand that she can tolerate in therapy. Jen is learning to “do life” in a chair which comes with many challenges. She has a lot of pain in her shoulders and back and prefers using the electric wheel chair, but the goal is for her to use her manual chair as much as she can tolerate. Daily skills that most may take for granted are quite a challenge for Jen.

We are moving to the next step of bringing Jen home in March. Some of the most important aspects of this will be: remodeling of the main level and master bathrooms, an elevator, and widening of 2 doorways entering and exiting the home with ramps. These modifications will make it easier for Jen to enjoy the ins and outs of daily life.

We are beyond grateful for the tremendous support for Jen.
