Rebuild Love City, St. John, USVI

$8,330 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 40 people in 9 months

We are Love City Sailors.  We live and operate a small charter company (Prince Charters) in St. John, USVI. Recently, St. John,  (Love City) was devastated by the largest hurricane (Irma) in recorded history of  the Caribbean.  If that wasn't enough, a second Category 5 hurricane (Maria) exacerbated the devastation a week and a half later.

We need your help!  No donation is too small.  If you are unable to donate, please continue to share this campaign on social media.  The more people involved, the greater our aid will be.

We sailed our home (also, our business) to Grenada, historically a safe zone from hurricanes, before the storms began impacting the islands and will return in October.  When we return, we will fill our 38' sailboat with up to 2 tons of relief supplies for our island. This includes hygiene kits (designed to aid 2ppl & cost $20 to produce), tools, lights and fresh drinking water, provided by our desalination system.

The recent arrival of Hurricane Maria greatly affected the supply lines from Puerto Rico and St. Croix.  We will be able to source our supplies directly from Grenada.

Join our efforts to help the people of Love City rebuild and make St. John great again!

Hi!!! I finally have a strong internet connection! We arrived to St. John last Wednesday night. We had so many supplies we actually overloaded our boat to the point the exhaust was underwater, which unfortunately, caused our head gasket on the diesel to blow about 5 miles out of St. Kitts, oops! We sailed the last 200 miles with no engine all the way home. We were so happy to arrive and put these supplies to use (and lighten our boat). A fellow boater side tied to our sailboat, where we offloaded almost 4,000 pounds of supplies onto their boat to be taken to shore. We were met at the dock by Kenny Chesney's Love for Love City crew and we all loaded the entire lot into multiple trucks to be dispersed accordingly. Some items went to directly to people in Cruz Bay, others were taken to Coral Bay on the other side of the island, and some were even transported to and distributed in Jost Van Dyke.
Ryan and I took cat food and gas cans to St. Thomas and delivered work boots and solar showers personally, to local residents here on St. John. We are lending the chainsaws out to people to make sure they are in continuous use. The impact we were able to make is nothing short of incredible. I cannot thank you enough for your support. The islands thank you too!

The overall bonding of the islands is a fantastic sight. Everywhere you look people are helping people. The amount of Stateside workers present is amazing. The military are very present; National Parks security, linemen, Fema, Mission workers, etc. are everywhere. Not only are they working hard to restore power, build homes, remove beached vessels and clear roads, they are also contributing to our economy by eating at the local restaurants, taking boat and fishing trips, buying groceries and even shopping in our clothing stores. The island morale is strong and although the trees are sparse, they are turning green and the beaches still white. St. John will recover and I believe it will be better than ever.
Thank you again, for ALL of your support❤❤❤
I will keep everyone updated and I hope you all will be able to visit the islands again soon!

Love, Lesli & Ryan

Hello!!! I hope everyone is well! We finally splashed Prince and she is much happier in the water. We were planning to start our trip home tomorrow, but it looks like there is some weather out there we want to avoid. Sooo, we will be leaving Carriacou at the end of the week. We plan on stopping in either Martinique or St. Kitts for one last big hardware store haul. Right now our boat looks like an episode of hoarders, with boxes stacked everywhere. It's so great! Thank you, again for ALL of your support! We will be updating as we start the journey back to St. John. Love to All!!! #lovecitystrong #lovecitysailors
