Layla was born with a rare syndrome called Apert Syndrome. This affects her skull, face, airway, hands and feet. Layla is 5 years old and has been through 54 surgeries already. She has Hydrocephalus, and requires a shunt. She also has a feeding tube for nutrition. Layla will be going through a big surgery in April called the Midface Distraction surgery. In midface distraction, the upper jaw, cheeks, nose, and orbital rims are moved forward. Using external distraction devices, the midface is gradually brought forward by separating the spaces in the bone to allow new bone to form. She will wear a device on her face for up to 9 weeks (depending on the doctors orders). This surgery will help Layla to breath, eat, and talk. We will be traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah at least twice. Any, and all donations will go toward Layla's medical expenses. Thank you.
