Love Wins : Toni & Johanna

Hey! It's Toni and Johanna here.

As many of our close family and friends know by now we are facing a unique and also challenging situation. As they say, good things don´t come easy, and one of the most dishearterning challenges for us has been the physical distance that is keeping us apart.

From first meeting online, falling in love and pursuing a long distance relationship for a couple of years, to meeting in person and being lucky enough to have had enjoyed our 3rd year together, holding hands for the first time, has been quite the adventure.

Little did we know that this was just the beginning of a longer process between our countries and a beautiful journey between two soulmates commited to each other.

At this point in our journey, with humility and a thankful heart, we would love and deeply appreciate some help from our friends, family and community members to help lessen the burden brought on by the most important expenses for bringing us back together so that we can continue our life together permanently and not on a visitation status, this would mean no more worries or fears of being separated and having to go through the distance again.

Our final goal is to spend the rest of our lives together, get married, which, by the way, both of us already proposed to each other LOL!
But first we are required to obtain what is called a K-1 fiancé visa and let's just say, its not as easy as it sounds (cost is high and the process is a long one).

Some of our expenses are:
Immigration Fees
1. Classifying Petition to USCIS for beneficiary
- $535.00
2. K-1 Visa Application includes conducting a background check on the visa applicant, fingerprints, interviews and other checks similar to those conducted by USCIS. - $265.00
3. Medical exam - an extensive exam only done by an approved doctor that the USCIS provides.
-$300.00

After those first three steps are completed and upon approval Johanna may navigate to the US. These three steps processing and waiting times vary from around 3 to 6 months.

4. Travel - this is including the travel expenses to and from Mexico City for the K-1 visa application submission, interview, getting the medical exam, (3 days travel time on a bus) and the plane ticket to Austin, Texas. The most average one-way plane ticket being around $300.00 The bus fare is $60.00, the stay is around $180.00.

5. Marriage - its $80.00 for a marriage license in Texas. (Once we are together in the US we have 90 days to get married)

6. Status Adjustment- Form I-475 Following the marriage, the K-1 nonimmigrant may apply for adjustment to lawful permanent resident status by filing Form I-485 with USCIS. Upon approval Johanna will be granted conditional permanent resident status and issued a Permanent Resident Card (green card, valid for 2 years only). $1225.00

7. Removal of Conditions – USCIS
Conditions must be removed or a conditional permanent resident will lose lawful permanent resident status and be subject to removal from the United States. This must be completed within 90 days prior to the end of the two-year conditional permanent resident period. $680.00

8. Plus whatever in between expenses we know will come up, like Visa Photos, Birth Certificates (they cost money in Mexico), etc.

Thank you so much for visiting our campaign and more for helping us achieve our goal!
If you can´t help with a donation, we just ask you to share this on your social media, spread the word to help us get back together again, anything helps!

We know this is possible, because we know Love Wins.
