Let's turn hate into love!
This Saturday, the anti - Islam group,
Pegida, will be organizing in front of London City Hall in a show of hatred. We can follow the example set forward in Wunsiedel, the German town that was once the site of an annual neo-Nazi march. Individuals and businesses in the town “sponsored” the march, with each metre the neo-Nazis covered raising more money for groups that fight extremism.
I propose we counter this with a per-protester pledge!
For each protester, we raise money for a charity that benefits newcomers to Canada. A flat rate is welcome, too. I'm open to ideas, but am suggesting the Cross-Cultural Learner Centre.
This way, the more people who show up in the spirit of hate, the more the very people they oppose benefit.
