Help Louise compete in Abu Dhabi

Donation protected

In October 2016, Louise's medal winning performance at the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition earned her a place on the Worldskills Australia Skills Squad team among Australia’s best young skilled apprentices and trainees.

Louise, along with 17 of Australia’s current National Champions from their particular trade or skill has now been succesfully selected to join the elite *2017 Skillaroos forming part of Team Australia that will go on to represent Australia at the world’s largest vocational skills competition – the WorldSkills International Competition, which will take place in Abu Dhabi in October 2017.

Louise is working tirelessly every day to reach her goal of winning the Gold Medal while representing her country in Abu Dhabi. Often referred to as the Olympic Games for Skills and Trades, the WorldSkills International Competition will see the world’s best trade young men and women, from 76 nations, compete in 50 different categories for the title of World Champion.

To ensure Louise has the best possible chance of winning a medal, she is now taking on an intensive training program and along with her mentors, category experts and a team of dedicated volunteers Louise will train and develop her skills, her decision making abilities and build the resilience needed to compete against the world’s best.

With your help we can provide Louise with the best possible opportunity to achieve her full potential, represent WorldSkills Australia at the International Competition in Abu Dhabi in October and come home with a medal.

ABOUT LOUISE:
Louise describes herself as unusual and chirpy, two qualities that make an excellent WorldSkills participant.

Growing up on the family farm and always working with her hands is what inspired Louise to try her hand at heavy vehicle mechanics.

“My parents were great cheerleaders and supported me to go after my dream of a career where I love to figure out how things work.”

A past WorldSkills competitor and previous work colleague recognised Louise’s potential and encouraged her to apply, motivating her with support and advice.

All the new skills and new people Louise has met through WorldSkills has opened her mind to the all the possibilities out there for a woman as driven and inspired as she is.

Louise is passionate about seeing other women enter trades and sees the biggest obstacle in her industry as being gender diversity.

She is proving to the world that women really CAN do it all despite the gender stereotypes and achieve greatness in her field through determination, commitment and a strong work ethic.

*2017 Skillaroos are champions chosen to represent Australia on the world’s trade and skills stage, and help to secure the future of the skilled Australian workforce.

** Australia is currently ranked 12th in the world and in 2017 we aspire to break into the top 10.
