New Opera Premiere
In November 2014, the Oberlin Mozart Players was founded by a group of students who wanted to create a new environment in which to make music together. Three years later, it is only fitting that their last performance together is a new work: an opera by Chicago-based composer Ross Crean. Founder and conductor John Paul Jennings commissioned Lost Daughters for The Mozart Players, who will present it on May 7th, 2017.
This project brings together emerging artists from all over the US in a collaboration that represents the future of the arts in America. The creation of new art, new music, new ensembles and organizations, is critical to the continued development of the arts, and we ask for your support to help continue to make the arts a central part of American culture.
The opera brings characters from literature, mythology, and opera together in new ways, and explores the complexity of motherhood, the universality of grief, and the strength to overcome.
All donations will go towards production costs for the performance, including, but not limited to:
- Stipend for all orchestra members
- Recording costs
- Printing costs (Programs, posters, etc.)
