Los ChokIndios rumbo a Mongolia
This summer, Theo and I will take part in the Mongol Rally to raise funds for two charities, Project Ajayu and Cool Earth.
On the 13th of July, we’ll be heading from London to the Czech Out party in Prague to meet up with our fellow ralliers. We will start our adventure on the 15th in our small 1.1ltr Peugeot 106, driving 10,000 miles across 15 countries all the way to Ulan-Ude, Russia.
We hope to raise a minimum of £2,000 to be divided between two charities.
One of the charities we'll be supporting is Project Ajayu, in our home country, Bolivia.
Two in every 100 children are born with a heart condition in the Bolivian highlands, 60% of the Bolivian population lives at altitudes over 2500 MASL. Around 85% of children who are not diagnosed and follow proper treatment die before reaching the age of 5.
Project Ajayu is an initiative within the Bolivian Children Heart Foundation (Herzverein e.V. ), trying to tackle high child mortality rates, by helping rural doctors increase the diagnosis and treatment of children with heart conditions. Establishing a screening protocol for Congenital Heart Disease and enhancing the medical referencing system and data gathering through digital means.
We will also be supporting Cool Earth, a non-profit organization that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and climate change.
As rainforest continues to be lost faster than ever, Cool Earth believes that the rainforest can be saved by putting local communities back in control of their forest. Proving to be successful, Cool Earth has already saved over 900,000 acres of land and protected over 216,000,000 trees.
