On January 4th my family suffered a devastating loss when our house caught on fire. All the humans got out safely along with our 18 year old cat Comet, but our other two cats, Loki & Nova, were both trapped in the house. Nova, our white Himalayan, was in there for about 20 minutes before a fireman found her and Loki, our all black Persian, was found hiding under my sisters bed almost an hour after the fire broke out. They were both immediately raced to the emergency vet hospital for smoke inhalation and put on oxygen. It was devastating enough to know we lost our house but the thought of loosing them as well was completely unbearable.
I’m happy to report after a 4 day stay and the excellent care they received at Central Veterinary Associates they are both fully recovered and are back to their usual crazy antics! Currently they have been reunited with Comet and are staying with my sister and I at a hotel for the time being as our house is currently unlivable.
The fire started in the back of the house and luckily the firefighters were able to put it out before too much of the house was consumed. The entire inside of the house suffers from smoke and water damage and it is estimated we will not be able to move back in until Christmas at the earliest.
Words cannot even begin to express how thankful I am that they are safe but unfortunately they have racked up quite a vet bill that the insurance will not cover. Any amount that can be donated to subsidize the bill will be greatly appreciated or even just simply sharing this page. Thank you for your kindness and generosity! Loki and Nova thank you as well!
