on behalf of Matt Logsdon
 CRESTWOOD, KY
Matt Logsdon is a 10 year veteran of the Lexington Fire Department, currently serving as a firefighter/paramedic/rescue tech on Engine 8.  Matt was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer affecting his liver, lungs, spine, and skull.  Matt and his wife Jessica have 3 young children ages 16, 10, and 8.  Matt is a non-smoker with no family history of cancer, which I believe speaks volumes about the "hidden" dangers we are exposed to as firefighters, from  toxic smoke to other dangerous chemicals.  I am a fellow friend and brother firefighter, who just last week witnessed Matt make a heroic effort in helping to save the lives of his fellow firefighters during a structure fire.  This money will go directly to the Logsdon family to help cover the expenses of cancer treatments, child care, and the many other associated costs of the grueling battle this family has already started to face.  I speak for ALL of the Lexington Fire Department when I say WE THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE who finds it in their hearts to contribute to this campaign!

Matt passed away this morning at 5:30 surrounded by family and friends. Thank you everyone for helping this family through their most difficult time. The campaign is still open to accept any further donations to help the family with Matt's final arrangements. Godspeed Brother, we'll take it from here!

It's been a while since I updated about Matt. He and Jessica arrived back in Louisville six days ago, on Monday. Matt and his family were able to attend a fundraising benefit on his behalf, even after receiving cancer treatment and driving 5+ hours back! He is in great spirits and still very humbled of the overwhelming help that has been given to him and his family! Please continue to keep Matt and his family in your prayers and continue to share, share, share this link!!! Thanks so much!

I just wanted to extend a message of thanks and appreciation to everyone. Almost $30,000 has been raised here for Matt and his family, much of which is from people who have never met him, and that's just incredible! If anyone is attending the UK vs. UT game at Rupp this evening, there will be a special halftime segment for Matt. Please continue to spread the word for Matt and his family, and share, share, share this link! Thank you all. #Teamlogsdon

I am Matt's father in law. I feel that I need to introduce you to a side of him many may not know. Matt came in to our family a little rocky. It took a while but him and I came to love one another. I want you to know that I have watched him grow into a great man, husband and father. Matt keeps his wife in kids on the top of his love list. No matter what you have to say about him nobody can say that he is not the best father in the world. I believe he is. Most people don't know that on his off days he volunteers at a local elementary school and reads to the kids and helps the kids that are struggling to read. I watched him personally ask local venders to donated toys at Christmas time for kids in need. He picked the donations up and delivered them to the kidos. All without any fanfare or recondition just the satisfaction of helping. When I was sick him and my grandson Hayden cut my my yard every week for nothing more than to help me. I met him as a stranger he has become a son. Matt I hope you know that I Love you. If you don't know I Love you! Your a good MAN.

Matt..I know what you are going through. I had cancer myself and I know it can be beaten. Folks let me tell you its not cheap battling cancer. I had just started a new job and my insurance had not kicked in. My doctor did not want to wait another 45 days due to the size of the tumor on my left kidney. It took 4 days to run up over 37000.00 in doctor bills. No chemo. No Dialysis. Just hospital stay and surgery. Plus I go back for scans and visits once every 3 months. I have insurance now but I still have a mountain of doctor bills. Im telling you all this so you understand how much this man needs your help. Ill pray for you Matt and ill donate in a few days when I get paid. Good luck and stay positive man. Thankyou so much for your service. From hat ive read you sound like a genuinely super big hearted person and I hope everything works out for you. Stay strong...

If a boy "diagnosed at 2 years of age with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a cancer of the white blood cells" who was given 2DAYS TO LIVE can be CURED with cannabis oil then we need to try to save this fire fighter. As a fellow fire fighter's wife (Mont. County) who has seen her husband fight cancer on two separate occasions, I want you to know that you are not alone and my heart is broken for you and your family. My hope is that you all hold onto the precious memories that made life sweet for you and the knowledge that you will be reunited again. Please reach out if you ever want to talk or get coffee sometime- I am also very happy to provide any meals or any errands you may need done. Praying, praying, praying.
