Local Music Co-working Space

Donation protected
My name is Sam Eure, and I am the founder of Iota Creative Collective. As a lifelong musician who has experienced the highs and lows of "the big machine" that is the music industry, It is my goal to make things easier to become successful independent musicians who are able to find stability and financial security in a tumultuous market. We can achieve this by building and supporting the community. This campaign is quite simple.

1. The community of local musicians will benefit from resource access, acumen training and development, and community engagement activities like concert series, songwriters showcases, and partnership events.

2. The funds will be used specifically to serve the community through development of a shared co-working space that provides resource access(recording space, rehearsal space, technology, etc), acumen(IP protection, accounting, contract law, marketing strategy, booking & management techniques), and training(to insure successful independent "musicianpreneurs".

The sooner we raise the funds, the sooner we can better serve our community, and those benefits will also serve those who enjoy local music, as well as businesses who provide it. The better equipped local musicians are, the higher quality the local scene, which in turn offers greater enjoyment but also higher revenue potential for local participating venues.

For me, the importance of serving this community draws on my own experiences in music. A career that has afforded me a wide breath of exciting and unforgettable memories, and the support I found while performing and writing music in Nashville Tennessee showed the power of a supportive and supported community. I left Nashville because I got very sick. I was finally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis after 15 years of misdiagnoses and uncertainty. The severity left me unable to use my hands, walk, or live independently. Told I had "less than one iota of a chance" of getting back to my career as a musician. I came back to Hampton Roads feeling defeated.

Attempting to settle into a "normal" job and life as I looked to recover. I found myself drawn to my musician friends who truly brought me back to life. Believing in me. Supporting me. Pushing me. Because of their support I was able to fight and reclaim my passion, and it was then I realized that I had been called to serve this local community. I was called to build something that expanded on the support they had provided me. I completed my MBA at William & Mary so I might have the means to do exactly that.

I know how grateful I would be for your support and any help you might provide. I would also like to share with you how grateful some members of or community would be.

The "newcomer"- Just getting into performance or songwriting, but who would be prepared to understand how to protect themselves and their work, in addition to being able to professionally record and market it.

The "Old Guard"- Having spent their time on the road, in the studio, or in the industry, these individuals would be able to share their experiences and wisdom with the greater community, keeping those on the rise from experiencing pitfalls and mistakes that might damage careers.

"The Originals"- The creators of original music ideas, these songwriters, and producers are searching for the next unique melody, lyric, or chord structure that will share their experiences in the most vulnerable of ways to the world. They may be the next Freddie Mercury, Grant Green, Chet Atkins, or Taylor Swift. Not having to worry about protecting their creations, while knowing how to market and generate revenue from streaming services will allow their continued development without undue anxiety.

There are many more members of the local music community who would all benefit, from your support. Each member is unique. The inclusive and diverse vision  that Iota Creative Collective is building would forever benefit from your support. One voice can be enough...  One supportive act can impact positive change and grow a community. I personally have experienced the power of a community support. Trust me when I say, one iota will do.
