On Sunday, November 4th, our local church, Cutler Bay Worship Center experienced a break in and vandalism. After cleaning and getting ready so we could host our weekly service, we believe the same people came back, broke in again, this time on Friday and did much more damage and vandalism to the property.
Currently we are not able to meet in the church due to the mess that was made. The entire building is covered in dangerous Fire Extinguisher dust, which we have been advised to get a professional service to clean due to the toxic nature of the substance. We believe that God works all things together for good for those who love and trust Him so we stand tall and strong after this trusting God as He gathers the community around us to lift us up and make a statement that nothing can stop us from making a difference in our community.
Cutler Bay Worship Center, although a new church, is pastored by myself Robert and my wife Kelley Augi and has been a church location for almost 60 years here in Cutler Bay. For the past 29 years Cecil & Julie Warren, Kelley's mother & father, pastored what was originally known as St Timothy Lutheran Church, and for the last 15 years, Word & Worship Center. After his retirement, Kelley & I came to take over and lead a new church in a well established location in our great town.
Unfortunately, in the midst of renovating the property to establish this new church, we are now unable to meet in our church because of the extent of the vandalism. Instruments, electrical equipment, computers and AV equipment are all covered in thick extinguisher toxic dust. The carpet and seating already needed to be replaced, and now, more than ever we need to replace these due to the damage.
All funds will go towards the clean up, increased security, carpet and seating and re-installation of electrical equipment.
Our desire is to be a local church & resource for the community of Cutler Bay. We love our town and love living here. We want to thank you for any funds you may be able to donate towards getting us back up on our feet. Having the support of our friends, family and community around us and internationally means the world to us.
We need immediate help as we are unable to meet at our building until we can get things cleaned and set back up. Thank you for your support and prayers.
