My name is McCord Henry, and I am running the Baltimore Marathon on October 19, 2019. My intent is to elevate awareness for the disease of addiction and to raise $5,000 for 2 organizations located in Maryland. The first three months of this campaign all proceeds will go to Mountain Manor, a rehab facility in Emmitsburg, Maryland, that I attended in September 2014, years before I called Baltimore home. While my first attempt at sobriety was not successful, this place laid the groundwork, preparing me with everything I needed to know for when I was finally able to make that decision for myself on April 3, 2017. To put it mildly, this center could use your support.
For the final half, all proceeds will be donated to the not for profit Penn North Recovery (www.penn-north.com). Baltimore's longest standing recovery community center— a fixture in the community— and a safe haven for anyone seeking friendship, support, and a healthy retreat from life on the streets.
Because there are two foundations receiving money from this campaign, all donations will be made directly to me . I then transfer all payments to Mountain Manor/ Potomac Healthcare Foundation or Penn North Recovery/Maryland CHI in the form of a cashiers check and am posting all transactions on instagram and this page so there is no grey area. Finally, if you are currently struggling in darkness, only you can be the one to step towards the light. As daunting as it seems to you right now, it is every bit as incredible on the other side. You just have to choose it.
