Our youngest brother, Emanuel (Ema for short), is a talented photographer and graphic designer whose day job up to this point has been organizing programs to keep kids out of gangs. On April 10, 2018, he went to the doctor because of a stomach ache and discovered that he had cancer (Hepatocellular Carcinoma) covering 95% of his liver. He is 26 years old.
With the type of cancer that he has, there is no current option to operate or transplant. His doctors in Honduras advised him to seek care in the US for the best possible chance of survival. That best possible chance involves a long battle to reduce the size of the cancer and prevent it from spreading to other organs. As an immigrant without access to health insurance in the US, our family is paying for his treatment out of pocket. Between chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and new procedures recommended by Ema’s doctors, we are expecting to spend between $20,000 and $40,000 out of pocket over the course of the next year.
We need your help. Anything that you are able to give will go directly towards the treatments that Ema needs to survive. Ema has spent his life as a young adult giving his heart and soul to impoverished communities. With your help, he will wake up one day cancer free and will be able to devote his full energy back to this purpose, and the world will be doubly better for that.

El 10 de abril la vida cambio abruptamente para nuestro hermano Emanuel.
Durante una visita regular al médico debido a un persistente dolor de estómago, Ema fue diagnosticado con un gran tumor en el hígado. En el transcurso de una semana, el oncólogo confirmo que tenía un Carcinoma Hepatocelular y que el tumor estaba cubriendo el 95% del hígado. Sin ninguna opción para operar ni trasplantar, él se enfrenta a una larga batalla para reducir el tamaño del cáncer y prevenir que se esparza a otros órganos.
Sus médicos en Honduras le sugirieron que buscara ayuda en los Estados Unidos para aumentar las probabilidades de sobrevivencia. Como inmigrante sin acceso a un seguro médico, nuestra familia está cubriendo todos los gastos medicos.
