Please contribute to the very first Live Again Fund for a very special friend and patient, Mark Moore. The vision of the Live Again Fund is to fulfill on the purpose/legacy of patients dying or who have died of cancer or other life threatening illnesses - so that their legacy Lives Again.
I met Mark about 4 years ago when he was jaundiced and had recurrent bleeding and was going to ER at least once every 2 months to receive blood. He was told he had cancer and didn't have long to live. With novel techniques in both Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, we discovered Mark's problem was not cancer, but secondary to scarring of the bile duct and very large abnormal blood vessels - we fixed the problem and Mark had never bled again since that time several years ago.
I didn't know Mark before the time he was told he had cancer, but who he was when I met him was someone who had lived his life with gratitude, with love, and undying kindness. Just a few months prior, Mark came to support me when I gave a talk on Interventional Oncology. He told me I was his hero , and that he would do anything for me.
Little did he know that it is his example of kindness and love that inspires me to do the work I do, now and indefinitely. He is MY hero and there is no doubt in my mind that that fact alone proves he lives again. There may be parts of Mark I don't know that lives in the hearts of his family & his friends and maybe even a greater purpose I do not know of.
Mark passed away from heart failure a few days ago and I have been invited to attend his celebration of life. There, I met the Moore Family and his many friends. They all had the opportunity to remember Mark and his legacy. Led by his youngest son, Garrett Moore, the Mark's Live Again Legacy fund project would be to provide reliable transportation for medical visits for the members of the Taft/Bakersfield community.
