Literacy for Lazear Students!

$2,115 of $5,000 goal

Lazear is raising money to buy books for students!

Our 3rd-8th graders are implementing a new literature curriculum where students learn to read and annotate in their books, just like many of us did in college! Writing directly in books provides students a chance to “talk to the text” in an incredibly authentic and engaging way. We were able to secure some funding for this initiative, but we need your help to continue to make this a reality for our school.

At Lazear, we want all students, regardless of socio-economic status to have access to high quality literature that speaks to them. 100% of the money raised will be spent on books for kids.

Lazear is a TK-8 school located in East Oakland and 97% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. We are so lucky to work for and with such an amazing community of students and their families. Please help us make our dream a reality!
