Lisa’s Story
Lisa is many things to many people:
She is first and foremost a mom to her amazing son Wyatt
She is a wife to Stephen
She is a daughter to Carol & Duane
She is a sister to Fashion
She is a cousin
She is a friend to so many
She is a co-worker & a boss (to whom I'm sure she considers to be some of her closest friends)
She is a nail tech / counselor with countless clients
She's a protector
She's a confidant & a shoulder to cry on
The list goes on & on!
When I was asked to start this web-site for my dear friend of more than 30 years, I did not hesitate!
The struggle has been finding the words and acceptance of what she is facing enough to actually sit down and start this.
As many of you know, Lisa is an extremely private person. She had to come to terms with this, before I would even consider doing this. She gave me the go ahead last night, so with that, I will do the best that I can in keeping you all informed of her condition. With keeping her privacy in mind, she has asked that we don't share this on Facebook at this time.
Lisa has been diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. The cancer has spread to her uterus, colon and liver, and is spreading rapidly. The doctors have told her and the family that it is terminal. With this being said, we got some great news this morning from her oncology gynecologist! He is planning on starting Lisa on a 12 week chemotherapy regiment that most patients respond positively from. He believes the tumors will shrink and gave Lisa a much brighter outlook!
Ovarian cancer is know as a silent cancer. Nothing was ever detected at her annual exams for this reason. This is a shock to her and to all of us.
In addition to this site, we have set up a web-site at Caringbridge.org to update everyone on her condition. You may also use it write to her in the guest book. We encourage you to share this site with anyone you know who loves Lisa. She has so many friends that it's hard to know where to start. Please follow & share this link:
