Please Help Linus and his Spinus!

Linus is my foster dog through Austin Pets Alive (his official name is Lion), and he's a wonderful little Pekingese guy who is having some trouble with his spine: bit.ly/lionlinus
He's got weakness in both back legs that causes him to drag his feet, and he's also having problems with incontinence, despite being just 3 or 4 years old and understanding the potty training concept.
He was saved from the Bastrop fires earlier this year. Before that, Linus clearly hadn't had much care – if any – as he was found severely matted, terribly anemic, and riddled with intestinal parasites, plus heartworm positive. He was given a blood transfusion and cleaned up at a private vet, and then transported to Austin Pets Alive's foster program to live with me for a while.
While APA has cured him of his hookworms and whipworms, and Linus is getting ready for his heartworm treatment, his spine still remains a mystery. It could be anything from an infection, to a slipped disc, a traumatic event, or even different types of cancer. X-rays taken at the shelter were not conclusive, and the specialty equipment required for further diagnostics is beyond the reach of the rescue's clinic. That's where YOU come in.

Linus is truly a great guy – ask anyone who knows him! I want to understand more about his medical condition for his own health and to help him find the perfect forever family with all of the cards on the table – even if those cards happen to show a screwy spine.
