We are FIRST Robotics Team 533, the PSIcotics, from Lindenhurst, NY. Our students are 9th through 12th grade boys and girls who we inspire to succeed by implementing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) concepts into our program. Our team is tasked each season through FIRST ROBOTICS with the construction of a robot that needs to achieve specific tasks while competing in a complex game competition with other teams from across the globe. While a student is a part of our team, they not only learn about STEM, but they also learn about leadership, sportsmanship, public speaking, and other essential life skills that they can apply to their future careers. One of the effective ways we accomplish this is by placing a strong emphasis on charity and community outreach activities. Our mission is to prepare, inspire, and build every student into the best version of themselves.
In the 2017-2018 Season we excelled as follows:
March 2018 - we competed in the FIRST Finger Lakes Regional, Rochester, NY, where Team 533 was Rank 40 with a record of 5-5-0, and won the Safety Award sponsored by Underwriters Laboratories.
April, 2018 - we competed in the FIRST / SBPLI Long Island Regional #1 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, where Team 533 was Rank 2 with a record of 14-5-0, and were Regional Finalists, won the Excellence in Engineering Award sponsored by Delphi, and won a Wildcard so we won entry to the FIRST Championship in Detroit, April 25, 2018.
We need help to get our team to Detroit on April 25, 2018. Our team works diligently all year, along with our parent coalition to raise funds for each season. These funds are used for the robot build, competition fees and travel expenses. We are asking for donations to the Lindenhurst Robotics Coalition, a 501c3 created by parents and alumni, past and present, to help Team 533 get to the FIRST Robotics Championship in Detroit this month!
