Linda is a 35 year-old mum of two wonderful children, Luca aged 6 and Eloise aged 3. In May 2015, she was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer in her right leg. That month she underwent extensive limb salvage surgery, resulting in her knee and part of her leg being removed and replaced with a metal prosthesis. This left her permanently disabled and unable to work.

In 2016, the cancer returned, this time in her lungs. She underwent 6 months of intensive chemotherapy followed by two surgical operations to remove the lung tumours.

In 2017, the cancers were back in the lungs again. This time, chemotherapy and an immunotherapy drug trial were unsuccessful.

2018 has been tough - she has struggled with multiple infections in her prosthesis, resulting in many hospital stays.

Linda’s cancers are no longer treatable with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery.

In May this year, she received devastating news that she has a 6-18 month life expectancy, but she continues to hold onto her determination to fight.

Sadly, there is only one option left – an immunotherapy drug called Keytruda. that works by increasing the ability of the body’s immune system to help fight and detect tumour cells. Unfortunately it’s a very costly drug, $60,000 for the first four months of treatment, and it’s not subsidised under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Having cancer is expensive, and with Linda unable to work, the burden of surgeon bills, gap payments, medications, x-rays, CT scans and such all add up quickly for a single income family.

It’s a last chance treatment, but with so much to live for, Linda has to do it. But it puts a serious financial strain onto a household already dealing with more than is fair.

We need to help Linda and her family ease this burden so she can focus on fighting cancer once and for all.

It can be hard to know how to help in such circumstances, but you can by donating, sharing this message or just leaving a heart felt message.

Not only does fundraising help, but we want to raise awareness of the cost to access immunotherapy treatment which isn’t covered under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and try to get this changed.

It would mean EVERYTHING to her knowing that she has a great community of family and friends supporting her.

Lots of love from her dearest friends, family, Nicolas, Linda and her children Luca and Eloise.

Campaign closed!

Thanks everybody for everything.

This was one of the greatest experiences ever.

We have closed donations as we have raised more than enough.

If you still want to help, you can do the following...

⁃ Spread the word about rare cancers and the lack of funding it receives in comparison to other cancers.
⁃ Aim to donate to other worthy causes, charities etc. You will feel good about it.
⁃ Send me a message once in a while just to say hi.
⁃ Stalk me on Instagram to follow my cancer journey. @lindasosteosarcoma

Hyperventilating .

We hit our target in just under 10 days.

Still in disbelief ... like wow .

Special mention to Nics’s work for matching employee donations. The $12,290 definitely got us over the line.

I had my first round of immunotherapy treatment on Tuesday and apart from some fatigue and joint pain, all went well.

Thanks to everyone who contributed, liked and shared my story. Words will never be able to express my gratitude.

I want everyone to put their hand on their heart. Feel it? That’s the special warm feeling you get knowing that you helped someone.

❤️ Linda

Hi all,

I just want to give a big shout out to everyone who has helped with the campaign so far. The response has been so unbelievable.

The generous donations that Linda has received has been nothing short of amazing. The donations obviously release a huge financial burden, but it’s the way everyone has chipped in to help with the campaign is what I am most grateful for.

Regardless of whether you donated, shared the links or reached out to Linda with messages of support and encouragement, you have helped immensely.

I can personally attest to seeing how the response has greatly lifted Linda’s spirits. She has always been upbeat and positive through the face of adversity, but seeing her smile this week has really been priceless.

Thank you everyone for the generosity and kindness. Please keep the love and support for going.

Wow! What can i say? I am speechless. Initially I was reluctant to set up a gofundme but I’m happy to say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made.
The kindness and generosity from family, new friends, old friends, acquaintances, friends of friends, random strangers etc.
One of the best parts is connecting with people whom you have lost touch with over the years but realising you must of made an impact on them to remember you.

Honestly I woke up the first morning in tears seeing how many times it had been shared. As of today it’s over 500+ shares !! I don’t even have that many friends. So to kind people who did share this. Thank you. You guys are amazing. Everyone is amazing!

Everyone gets a hug (Oprah voice) you get a hug, now you get a hug !!
