Just after Lincoln's first birthday he was diagnosed with an Astrocytoma brain tumour. He had a 9 hour surgery to remove a very small piece of the tumour, due to hydrocephalus he had to have a shunt put in a few days after the first surgery due to fluid not draining properly, shortly after he had another surgery to reposition the shunt. Lincoln spent a month at Sick Kids then was transferred to Holland Bloorview hospital for another 2 months of rehab therapy. Less than a year after, the tumour started to grow and he started 70 weeks of chemotherapy, he is currently at week 59. Over the past 2yrs since his diagnosis we have been struggling to pay bills, travelling between Belleville, Toronto and Kingston hospitals for his many appointments, repairs to our vehicle and have had very little help over the past 2yrs and are asking for any help to make things a little easier and less stressful as Lincoln continues his fight.+ Read More
Starting next Friday Lincoln will be starting 1 year and 3 months of a combination of 2 different chemotherapies (VinChristine and Carboplatin) to hopefully shrink the remaining tumour that couldn't be removed from his surgery on June 14th 2019. We will be going to Sickkids every Friday for his treatments.
After 7.5hr surgery they were able to remove 80% of Lincoln's tumour. He is doing well other than pain and being really tired.
For those who have been following Lincoln's story. Yesterday Lincoln was supposed to be starting chemotherapy but after Neuro Oncology reviewed his MRI scans from last weekend his team of doctors at Sickkids all agree that the tumour has grown far too big for chemo to have time to have any affect. In the next few weeks Lincoln will be having brain surgery again to try and remove a large enough piece of his tumour to give him enough time for chemotherapy to help. I will be off work for the next 3-4 months while he is in the hospital, he will be at Sickkids for a month and the back to the rehab therapy hospital in Toronto for 2 months. We are asking for any help during this time. Thank-you for your support.
Now that Lincoln has been on a trial chemo for about 3 weeks, he is starting to show signs of side effects. The trial chemo is effecting his liver, he now has to be seen twice weekly in Kingston for blood tests as well as once weekly at Sickkids. We again are asking for any help to offset the costs of travel. Any amount helps.
